Alright, we've hijacked enough threads and I think we can all agree it's time we start a thread dedicated to video games (all types).
Bryan, I love the "run around do what you want type games" like GTA series, fracking stoked for the newest one coming out.
I don't know what it is about the GTA games, but I've been playing them since the original on PC (overhead view - 2d lol) and I can burn a few hours that way NO PROB!!
Jay - AC3 probably isn't for me either, but damn those graphics in the commercial look awesome!
If it's similar to red dead, forget it! I don't care much for western weaponry but wtf man!!! COD series are the bomb!! literally!! another great way burn a few hours "every" night..just kidding, I barely play anymore but there is something addicting about playing online and challenging your skills against the guy in IRAQ who does this for a living in real life! lol
carry on.....

I'm more racing games, you know, where I can do the things I wished I could on the roads even in the process of building my own seat/steering/pedals/shifter and possibly acuators with motors for the driving feel, but that's if I can get some help from a buddy of mine.

Sum it all up, Mike, STFU and play the entire AC series. Amazingly immersive, and an excellent storyline! lol Starcraft, still awesome. I completely agree with Jay on "grid" games. Offer a much more in-depth level of gameplay. Remember, if you want the most of your games, I recommend a solid sound system. 5.1 at least! Turtle beach headsets are the bomb! If you're around the x360 scene, shoot me up johnovision27 I'll be rocking AC3 all this week and Halo 4 for the foreseeable future. Used to play CoD (only the MWs), still do just like to take a break every now and then. Curious on everyone's favorite system and game of all time. Lets hear it

I've been wasting my nights away lately, because I'm broke, and because of Torchlight 2.
The pace of the game is great. Different flavour from Diablo.
I haven't touched my 360 in a while. I guess console gaming isn't for me.
Everytime something new comes out like Halo X and Gears of War X, it's just more of the same. They're shooters.
Best shooter to this day is Counter-Strike. I'll occasionally play that.
I do have AC 123 sitting here...we'll see if I ever get to them. I played a bit of 1.
Shoot I have some games still in their wrapping like Ghost Recon.
Have lots of catching up to do. I plan on making this winter a complete STAY AT HOME gaming season 'slash' workout season getting back to my gym's new facility.
Occasional drink binge with the boys.
Gotta save money!

Lol johhny I'll definitely "shoot you up johnovision" on some COD or possibly halo 4 if I get around to moving back into the city or an area with REAL high speed internet. Favourite games of all time based on genre; Sports: NHL 94, this is the 2nd edition of easports nhlpa and 94 technically kicked off the entire NHL series as we know it today. It's graphics were 2D but seemed like 3D for it's time. Awesome game play, all the right players with stats and the only missing (from nhlpa '93) was the fighting aspect but a legendary game none the less. RPG (for you newbs, that's roll playing game): frack so many to choose from. N64's original mario bros 3D was good, Zelda on the 32 bit NES, super metroid, resident evil series until it got gay (after the 3rd one), so many hours invested..but if I had the choice to pick up a controller and re-play my wonder years, I'd have to go back to the resident evil days. I got my dad addicted to it. We would play it until 2-3am on school nights with the lights off and both get scared LOL.. Racing game: mario kart 64 is a multiplayere classic!! BUT, I'm not sure if you guys recall a racing game called TOP GEAR. It came out before the original Gran Turismo. It was the first racing game that you could upgrade your car, race for money and buy better parts (ie. Turbos, tires, ect...) The music in that game is addicting aswell. Hours will pass by and your thumbs will blister Fighting game: mortal kombat series ftw! Arcade style. I remember learning all the finishing moves, babality, animality...street fighter aint got sh!t on the MK series to this day First person shooter: easy!!! GOLDEN EYE N64!! It's default controller setting is inverted looking and to this day, I switch my controller setting on EVERY FPS game to inverted. I'm more accurate that way I may have missed something here..I'll get back to this later

I have to agree with you guys about GRID, really enjoyed that series and it gave you a nice variety. I actually started a blog on games cause I pretty much play everything that comes out (only one review so far :P) http://hourafterstart.blogspot.ca/As for GTA, not sure I am in to this one, the last one sucked in my opinion. I didn't even finish it before I sold it to EB. I am huge on supporting companies and I think that was the first game I sold back to EB. Playing right now AC3 and loving it and am going back to Mass Effect 3 online which is super fresh and I am loving it!

One of the best, if not THE BEST, RPG of all time on the SNES. They ported it over to the PS1 I believe as well. That game had multiple endings so multiple play throughs were worth it with different timelines like the choose your own adventure books. Awesome game, I'd play it again. Golden Eye was awesome. Skipped many a classes in highschool for that one. I really wanted to pick up some older systems just so I could play some games I missed over the years, but I think if I did that I would lose my job, family/friends after years of playing.

Several friends and I are getting NFS:Most Wanted for the Xbox360. We're busy guys, but we might find one night every 2 weeks to just sit down for a few hours and race.
I'll probably pick it up in the next week or two.

I used to play a lot of Gears of War on the 360 in high school when it first came out but kind of stopped playing games after that. Decided to build a gaming pc to try pc games out but I'm not too fond of those either. I'm holding out for Halo and Call of Duty at the moment, I'll give them a try since they haven't disappointed so far. The new Forza doesn't look too bad either. I can't seem to finish a single Assassin's Creed game. I've tried more than once and just cant stay entertained long enough to finish it, they're just so boring and repetitive to me. NHL is also a really good game to play against friends. Exactly how I felt. Torchlight 2 brought me back into PC gaming. If a bunch of guys are going to get together to play NFS: Most Wanted I might have to pick it up and get Live Gold again. We'll see how good it is though. I never finished Forza 2 or Project Gotham Racing. Got bored of those.

Forza 2 is awesome for the live online auction house. This may sound retarded to you guys but at one point, I decided to make 'Eleanor'..68 shelby with the paint and stripes, fully modded into a 's' or 'u' class (can't remember)..then I posted it in the auction after customizing a licence plate in cursive writing saying 'eleanor' and it sold for my asking price of $10,000,000. so, I mass produced them and have now have something like $228,000,000 LOL

The only thing that I hated about Forza 2 were those endurance races. Sometimes it would take over an hour just to complete one, little bit ridiculous. LOL, that's not an endurance race, Gran Turismo has actual endurance races that take hours to complete. They even have the 24hr lemans, which as your probably guessed it takes 24hrs to complete.

It's graphics were 2D but seemed like 3D for it's time. Awesome game play, all the right players with stats and the only missing (from nhlpa '93) was the fighting aspect but a legendary game none the less. Honestly never was really into simulated sports games. I get into some pretty serious competition with my buddies and I play Mario sports on wii and a 2-4. Can Smash bros count as a "sports" game? haha RPG (for you newbs, that's roll playing game): frack so many to choose from. N64's original mario bros 3D was good, Zelda on the 32 bit NES, super metroid, resident evil series until it got gay (after the 3rd one), so many hours invested..but if I had the choice to pick up a controller and re-play my wonder years, I'd have to go back to the resident evil days. ANY Zelda game, PERIOD! (minus windwaker... hated that one) I was always a fan of the Elder Scrolls games, except the part where they consume your soul. I think I got over 250 hours into Oblivion and finally said enough is enough. That is the reason I haven't started playing Skyrim. But it's oh so tempting! Does anyone recall an excellent little game called Mario RPG for SNES? Hands down my favorite RPG Racing game: mario kart 64 is a multiplayere classic!! BUT, I'm not sure if you guys recall a racing game called TOP GEAR. It came out before the original Gran Turismo. It was the first racing game that you could upgrade your car, race for money and buy better parts (ie. Turbos, tires, ect...) The music in that game is addicting aswell. Hours will pass by and your thumbs will blister Mario kart 64 will always be the staple in my racing games, but I am a huge fan of the grid games as Jay mentioned earlier btw, nothing blistered your thumbs like playing hours of mario party 2 for 64, or destroyed joysticks for that matter.... Fighting game: mortal kombat series ftw! Arcade style. I remember learning all the finishing moves, babality, animality...street fighter aint got sh!t on the MK series to this day Mortal Kombat - SNES, NEXT! First person shooter: easy!!! GOLDEN EYE N64!! It's default controller setting is inverted looking and to this day, I switch my controller setting on EVERY FPS game to inverted. I'm more accurate that way Does no one remember perfect dark? I prefer that game over Goldeneye because of the secondary functions on all the weapons. Laptopgun FTW! But Halo will always be at the top of my list. 6 more days!! [/quote] I'll add RTS games. Starcraft, always a great classic until you encounter one of those Korean machines online. Has anyone ever played Simcity 4? Damn, there is so much going on in that game, it's hard to keep tabs on it all. Nuts to the city, you have to make an entire region work together!

In previous versions (Gran Turismo 4 and earlier), you either did it in one sitting or left your PS2 on, changed the channel/turned the TV off and came back to it. Not ideal, but it's how almost everyone with some semblance of sanity did it. In Gran Turismo 5 (PS3), you can quit the game and save the race in progress, but if you go to play the game again you MUST continue the race, or forfeit your progress i.e. you can't save it and then go do another race or play arcade mode. You can pop in another game, etc...but the next time you boot GT5 up, you're doing that race if you don't want to lose it.

7)Zone of the enders-ps2 but soo good. 8)Shadow of the colosus-ps2 SO GOOD!
I have the HD collection for both of these. I have been playing some ICO cause I had never played it and loved Shadow of the Colossus. Both ZOE games were really good and have not tried the HD version yet.
