Basic rebuild, about 1200-1500 and up. One idea is get Ziggy to get you this Engine rebuild kit from Slowboy The only thing I would add to that is a new Water pump, and possibly swap out the topline Timing belt for an OEM one. For a "daily driver motor" it would be a very good start though.

Hey, i just recently went through it with my 94 AWD turbo.......... after all taxes in, i had no time to do it myself...Tapp Auto did it for $3,500........ the cost of the "new" old engine was $1500, $400 in belts, some pockey change for fluids, thankfully my clutch was still good, then all the labour........i have my exact quote somewhere else but that's pretty rough guess, the $3550.13 i think it was was the end cost

Must be nice, I ended up Paying for 2G pistons and an EVO III. And then well lets just say the machine shop alone was $2550. So I guess it all depends on if you engine went yet or if its' just going to be a rebuild. And obviously it depends on where you get it done and if you keep adding up replacement parts, gaskets, etc.
