Touche, I attempted the removal of my intake manifold a very long time ago and had no luck getting on to the nuts. Maybe it's time for me to try again. I would love to pull my A/C compressor and do the relocation.

Well I'm working on a SMIM in a 2g, so it's a very different ball game.

But to be honest, I should have focused more on my main idea: I never need to touch my alternator, other than pulling the belts to get my timing covers off. I want to relocate a part that I never touch, to an area where it will never be touched.

I've been expecting my alternator to fail since I got my car! I'm just waiting for it to happen so that I can put the new one in the back, haha.

He's got other fish to fry...like all of his exhaust studs shearing whenever he tries to tighten the nuts...

Anyways, back on topic. I just run a stock alt in the stock position, but will probably switch to a Saturn when the time comes.

I installed new terminals last night. The old ones were all chewed up. I also put some terminal protector bushings.

[Linked Image]

So here's my story. I ordered the saturn alt (new) from Ziggy and it requires some grinding for the install. Isaque nunes is going to help me with that at his place. Only problem is that I have to somehow get my talon in woodbridge to his place in milton without an alternator lol I'm getting my brother to drive behind me tonight on the way just in case I don't make it. Battery is at home charging as we speak. I hope I can make it on a full charge.

haha, I know right. I'm turning off all aux power draws. My bro will follow me to charge in the highly probable case that it dies.

If you have your rad fans running you won't make it. Not even a chance. Forget about anything else...like I said, I've been there, and my car has no radio or other 'aux' draws except my WB gauge.

Either that or a friend with a car trailer.

Your fully charged battery won't get your very far, and your boosted-at-the-side-of-the-road battery will get you no where. Save yourself a lot of hassle and just tow her smile

@mike a valid point lol
@jeremy I'm looking into it now. My dad has it so I'm probably going to just have it towed. I hope it doesn't rain though...she hasn't seen a drop in a few years weep

How hard is it for someone to throw an angle grinder in their car and bring it to you? All that hassle just to spend 5 minutes grinding an alternator?

All that driving for just 5 minutes of work is how I would be thinking about it.

But I do agree, is there not someone closer that can deliver a grinder?

Last night we were at Danny's place and I left there with more mosquito bites then 3 days camping! LOL....
Idea was to have the car at my place at I've got a double car garage and it's easier to work & there was other stuff we were going to do!
We'll be doing it at Danny's house Biatches bird

If you didn't have CAA, paying a tow truck driver would probably be the same price of two new angle grinders from CTC.

It's not hard at ALL to do!

Just go a little at a time. Having more material is better than less. Unless you start using fender washers to fill the gap.

Have you tried finding a used relo kit?

It's not the grinders or price of them! Again, idea was to have Danny's car at my place as it was easier to work on and there were other things we would be doing. We also thought to have a mini meet in Milton but scrap that now.
Cheers

Most of my friends with car trailers would drive me down for a case of beer, which costs less than just getting a tow truck to show up tongue

But yeah, I was making the assumption that they had a few projects ready to go smile

Yeah, I bought a nice FMIC from bob gripper a while back, still haven't put it in yet. The plan is to get that done this summer. It was supposed to start today but that stupid alternator put a crutch in those plans. Also have the GM MAF/T from Kyle that I bought a while back. Can't wait to turn up the boost from its current stock setup rotate
