my mechanics special [1990 talon awd tsi] is on the road at last ,total rebuild on the engine from head to crank to one size over pistons, lost the balance shafts in the bargain .
All I can say is it goes like hell ,stops corners and has a really solid feel . Are these great cars or what.

Thats good to hear! Where did you get the engine done? Wait until you mod the car then you will really enjoy these cars.

My car will hit 2 years without being registered in January frown

1990 TSi AWD - Parked since I bought it (Jan24/03)
Had it out one day, and busted the trans.

Hi Chris ,Rene Wall did the engine and head ,he also took the lifters apart and cleaned and lubed them with weasle piss [he said] They ticked for about the first 15 minutes but are very silent now .
My boost guage goes to just short of one bar , so I'm pretty happy with my home made turbo bearings .I have no idea how long they will last but on the plus side there is no bearing whistle . I changed the oil out after the first 100k just to eliminate floating crap from getting embeded in the new shells .
I have yet to get my tach working and a few other items could use attention but hey she runs.
