I have ran into an issue and would like to log my fuel pressure.(0-5v output)
All the sensors I am finding seem to be quite pricy.

Is anyone else doing this? Could you reccommend a sensor that I could screw into my 1/8npt port on my regulator?

Thanks

Just spitballing: is there any reason why an oil pressure sender wouldn't work? They're not too bad, price wise.

Would love to do the same thing, but with ECMLink.

Most aftermarket gauges use the same Kavlico pressure senders: http://www.kavlico.com/kavlico-pressure/downloads/data-sheets

I beleive most of those are a resistance to ground to make the gauge work.

I need something with a 5v output to plug into the ecu.

Yeah they definitely are. I should just be quiet about electronics.

Yeah everything I am finding is $100, everything under that is ground type sending unit.

I have gauges that use these sensors: http://www.spatechnique.com/product_pages/productdetails.cfm?id=499

Of course the sensor is over $100. I am logging the output of this in ECMLink.

Option:
I have not tried these other sensors, but apparently they are fairly accurate and cheap. GM part number 22678731 for aluminum body or #22634172 for steel body. It is an A/C pressure sensor (3 wire). $27 at RockAuto right now. http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/moreinfo.php?pk=1844796
There are a bunch of listings for them on eBay too.
I have no info on volts output vs. pressure for these sensors unfortunately.

I have a couple of sensors from Auber instruments

They seem to work, although the pins aren't moulded into to connector accurately and you have to tweak the pins a bit before the connector will line up and push on. I'll probably replace them with something better when they fail. Honeywell has some nice sensors you can buy from digikey but they are more $$ than those above

No problem, glad to help.
I'm currently using the stainless 100psi one for fuel too. Although not logging it yet.

-edit-
Whoops
Just realized I must be using the 150psi one for fuel.

Just for shitz and giggles Ill post my solution for watching fuel pressure.

Mind you I cant log it so I need someone to watch the gauge. The guy I drive to work seems to be ok with 3rd gear pulls to 7500rpm!

Im going really rich after 6000 rpms and wanna see what my pressure is doing at that point. So I came up with this from extra parts in my fridge.

You cant see it well from the pic but in the car its fine.

Mine looks like that but it's from the driver's side and long enough to tuck under the wiper when in use, plus a reversible zip-tie for under the hood.

I had it under the wiper, but that posed a problem if it rained.

And ya, I havee a flexable steel wire loom holder thing that holds it when its in the engine bay.

I ran the same setup in my Saturn but I had it actually run into the cabin and zipp tied to the dash. It leaked and ate the plastic dash finish.

Hey Mike, any update on this? I would like to get my fuel pressure logged and will probably pick up that sensor you mentioned if you say it's good.

+1.

I have a pretty good feeling my 255 is not cutting it any longer. Buy a Walbro 255 they said, it'll be plenty they said.

Big thing to keep in mind, bigger fuel pump wont necessarily help as the pressure relief valve opens at around 75 PSI if I recall correctly and my base pressure wont drop from 50 PSI.

That leaves me with a maximum of ~35 PSI before I've maxed out the pump's pressure limits.

I pretty much run just under 35 psi of boost on the streets (40 psi base fuel pressure), i.e. near the limit of one fuel pump. Thus I have a Jay Racing PT341 intank pump and a walbro 255 inline. Run two pumps and you won't ever need to think about fuel pressure issues again and each pump only needs to work 1/2 as hard to maintain pressure wink

In traffic and under cruise situations I just leave one pump on and have noticed no difference in the car. At 33-34 psi of boost one pump is still sufficient and there is no change in AFR's. When I'm out having fun I keep both pumps on just as a peace of mind. The only time I really ever need both pumps on is when I run over 35 psi of boost.

So 2 pumps should handle any amount of booost and fuel pressure you throw at the car smile

The plan was to run a bosch 044 inline to keep the pressure up. The 450 flows a lot at low pressure so would make a good initial pump.

I was gonna buy a 044 at the shootout that was supposedly "cheap as f*ck", yet the guy didn't show and just left the parts there.

For wiring, should I just tap it into the current relay and run another relay along side another ground and positive wire?

I run two separate relays and two separate on/off switches for each pump.
