Very true. Also less of a flashy car in general.

1G's are good for a lot more than not attracting attention lol

Which I don't find true. My red 92 used to turn heads everywhere I went. I even got pulled over once for going a bit quick, straight pipe 3", and all the officer did was compliment my car. Didn't issue any tickets for no plate, no muffler, etc

They're nice looking old school cars they are very rare to see nowadays.

+1... I know Gui thinks 2g's are sooooo sexy... mostly because his 1g is a lazer, IMO 2g's are the fat girls of the DSM family with a higher spoiler.

Maybe if mine wasn't fading dark green, lower than stock height and didn't have 16" steelies. lol

Might look into a paint job, or swap everything into another 2G.

The thing I hated about my 1G was all the stupid questions randoms asked me.

But with the VR4 you either you know what exactly it is or you don't, So I never get dumb questions about it from randoms.

As for 2G's when I was much younger I thought they were a Cavalier freak

it's just not sexy. Girls seem to agree with me too wink

I like curves, it's natural. It's also why I like the kind of girls I do. If they were angular...I'd ask myself questions tongue

2g's are round. 1gb's have curves. 1ga's not so much.

They only thing that I seemed to get asked about is if it came with a 14b or 16g. But to most people I go by unnoticed smile

2G's are beautiful cars, but I would just rather build a 1G as they are a better car wink

Yay 1gs for life!! I am personally like the look of the 1ga better than the 1gb.
I appreciate the looks of a 2g but would probably never buy one, I like the old school look.

I love the fact that a lowered 2g with a nice set of rims is much more attractive among the tuner/imports around which more than likely have a lot of $ spent on aesthetic upgrades

In my opinion 1g's are more for the enthusiast who can truely appreciate what a fine machine it really is

Pshhhhh! It's a weak argument. Leave it be that it's 50/50 for what one is better. We shouldn't muck this thread up with rhetorical questions, we SHOULD start a thread about how a dsm (1g or 2g) is better then the direct competition.

1G = Solid metal and engineering after 20 years.
2G = Rusty shock towers, crankwalk and random missfires, borrowing parts from the 1Gs to keep moving.

Whatever keeps your boat floating grin

random missfires? First time I hear that one specific to the 2g.

Crankwalk can happen to ANY car, including 1gs. It's just known more on the 7 bolt (which by the way was also used in some 1gbs)

Borrowing parts from the 1g is only because they are cheaper. People with moola go aftermarket or upgrades (such as the 16g and up) from the factory. 2gs have a better exhaust manifold, shifter, rims, MAS if you want to go in the borrowing way. They both have parts that the other uses.

2gs have a more comfortable and ergonomic design; the controls hug the driver. 1g is comfortable (seat wise) but definitely not on its interior finish.

Shock towers are a bad design, but that's the only one I don't see countered. Besides, mine aren't and I know many other who don't have them. Just take care of the car tongue It's also a fault on the Skylines....and I wouldn't say no to a skyline laugh

rotflmao This is why I love the 1G-2G rivalry topic. Oh the passion!

I'll admit that I have run some 2G parts. wink

On the ergonomic design - do you drive a fighter jet or a flower? I drive a fighter jet.

Yeah brother! I have been in very few cars that feel like a cockpit, I find the 1g super comfortable even compared to current day cars.

Ergonomic means easy/safe/less strain when using it (it's just the office people that gayed it up with chairs and keyboards)...you'd want that in a fighter jet, specially in times where things go fast wink Just like the Supra interior, it's all oriented towards the driver. Passenger doesn't NEED to press things tongue

It's good to have rivalry, seeing faults and correcting them is the essence of improving a design. laugh Now if only we could get Mitsubishi to build a new one...

I haven't used a protractor but I believe the 1G console points even more to the driver than the 2G's.

One thing I will agree the 1g has going over the 2g is less people screwing them up (also one of the reasons behind the 2g being known for crankwalk; all dumbnuts that have an issue with the engine on a 2g will, in most cases, automatically blame it on crankwalk). The 1g in general has more car enthusiasts behind it, mainly because it's more appealing to engine guys than looks only guys (due to its exterior). That gives it a more mature background. Although, being cheaper, it also attracts people with no money or car fixing abilities (so even then it's a bit of a random dispersion of the masses).

That being said 2gs, because they are naturally beautiful, will attract more that are only looks oriented. They will then mess with the electronics, engine not knowing what they are doing and giving it a bad rep. They also bring a lot of the "yo bro" community which I abhor.

Guillaume is right. The dash angles towards the driver whereas the 1g looks like a a plank of wood with some dials and gauges.

2g wins every time. Ask the ladies wink

This is how it should have come from the factory (minus the grey carpet, I have a black one to install eventually)..and I still haven't installed the passenger seat.

1gs were way ahead of its time when it was new. Really showed alot of people what 4 bangers were capable of. Then they designed the 2g to handle all the power a little better.

But as far as looks... To me...

1gs look like they should be racing hondas. 2gs look like they should be racing Vettes and ferraris.

2g Clutch assembly's are much better, 1g dashes look better, imo.

In the end, as much as I want another 2g instead on the 1g,there are enough things that I can't let it go.

We all know the back seat is just there to provide cushion for the new parts you've just recently purchased for it.
