In celebration of a complete teardown! Toe arms are an exception and can wait until I cut some bad rocker panel apart. Good news is I have met, and will be doing side jobs for, a restoration expert! He can be my go to for welding and bodywork, and has a sandblasting acquaintance. Apparently I have done such a good prep on the car that sandblasting shouldn't cost too much at this point. Need to now buy wood to make a car dolly, and sheet metal to start fabbing patch panels. I m also torn between getting this thing cleaned up and in primer ASAP or doing a quick mock up for wire tucking, shaves, deletes, new brackets, relocation, and ducting. Problem is I dont have any of the required fuel, guage, and ignition upgrades. ($$$)... Sorry for the slow progress monotony.

In other good news for what I dont get from DSM vendors and custom, I am now part of a racing team that is sponsored by JRP! Yay for large discounts!!

Have you weighed the options between cost of supplies and time versus finding another shell?

Tons of work ahead of you. IMHO I would look for a clean shell, hell.. I would even take a clean NT shell and weld your current front clip onto it rather then patching the hell out of it. Either way I hope you don't lose steam, 90% of people would end up 'giving up' right about now and cutting their losses.

Mike can't give up now cause he would just be a huge hypocrite!

Based on Mike's previous posts: money is more of an issue than time so I guess it make sense to keep going with it. My only concern if the following was done:
- document the order of how parts were removed
- sorting bolt/nuts/washers/small parts into individual labeled bags/plastic folders.
- labels on wiring and connectors

Disassembly is nowhere as easy as reassembly.


I agree with Terry on that but I still keep my hopes up for Mike. Keep on going !

I would say the only concern would be, labels on wiring and connectors. Everything this else you can lookup and figure out but from what i have seen it's always a struggle to find help with wiring.

I'm just saying it may be worth looking into.

I m no quitter, and I wont give up on my first car. Its a great learning process! I want the satisfaction of restoring it, enough good metal there to warrant not throwing it out. Wiring is laid out labelled in my basement Most bolts went back in where they came from. The ones in the shell may need to removed soon and be bagged and tagged. Time has turned into an issue in my pursuit of cashflow I m trying to get the steam back.

The Azenis tires are stupid sticky for a street tire! Can't lock the stock dual piston brakes with them. Tread wear of 100, but I've already done 3 Trips to Ziggy/ Niagara Falls and they have lots of life left in them.

They do look really nice in person. At first I was kind of skeptical and thought they didn't look good, but in the morning once the rain passed, I had another look and I decided to leave them on.

Well I guess I will fix up both sets of rims. I am not sure if I like the 2g 16" swirlies or those better.

The 2Ga 16" swirlies are by far the worst looking DSM rim next to the 14" Eclipse GS rims... 1Gb 16" are extremely nice. I have a set but will no longer be able to use them because they won't clear my brakes

I have the same prob, I want to get some Hoosiers on some 16" wheels but they don't fit over my Baers. So I need to stop slower to go faster

Far better braking power than the oem's and also the ease of pad replacement, ALL calipers should come apart like these.

Seriously, all you need to change your pads is a set of needle nose pliers, pop off one e-clip, remove retaining pin, remove caliper, change pads and do the reverse. 5 minute job.

Some hot weather in LA this week. I've been driving DSM daily to work. Outside temps went up as high as 45.5 today and yesterday. Some serious drought thats for sure.
