I have 2 sets (one for each car) in storage if I ever wish to change my vision on the cars. As a daily like I have....not needed it's just wasted money. If the parts are already in storage, what money are you wasting? Sorry.. had to I know you love your SMIC's, and honestly in a daily driver that NEVER sees any kind of competitive use, by all means do whatever it is that makes you happy. It shouldn't be about whether the SMIC will perform better or not; who cares? It's a street car, turn the boost up if you think it's slow. But at the same time.. you shouldn't let the fact that the cops and "the homies" react a certain way to FMICs dictate whether or not you run one

Aren't supra SMIC's a thing of the past now that there are cheap pre fabbed kits for our cars? I know you love your side mounts Gui . Thing of the past? Yeah it's old news but it still works. So why forget about them? If I had my choice I'd have a Dejon super side mount for the 1g as well (since that's what I'm running on the 2g). Was buying one when I was looking, but the deal fell through. Finding one is hell though since Dejon went out of business and most current owners don't know what it is, and both ADX and Alamo (other 2 manufacturers for smics) are a bit too bulky for my taste. They work, it's just that people couldn't justify putting X amount of money on one purposely built for the car when they could buy a cheap chinese FMIC kit from ebay for the same price. Not to mention a lot of DSMers are bit by the "buy bigger so won't have to upgrade it again later" bug with injectors/turbos/intercooler/dsmlink. Which I'm all for if you actually do ramp up the performance to that stage one day, but most don't. So it's wasted money. Besides, that way I make use of the bumper vents as this was the original idea from the manufacturers. You'll also note that I already have a vacuum created by the wheel right behind it which helps suck air through it. Again, intended by the engineers when they developed it.

But who's to day I'm not going to sell them soon once I'm happy with what I have? I buy in quantity...which my wallet hates me for but I like being able to go: "well...that'd be fun to try...oh...here's one in a box lets give it a go: The last one is just an added benefit, the 2g already gets too much attention so making the 1g look like a granny car is it's complete opposite. The cf will be painted when I get a chance in case you're wondering.

I guess it does make sense for a daily to stick to SMIC's. Given, we all have a different opinion on what a daily should be .

When I had to choose between a fmic and a smic for sandras 1g.. I looked at labour. Alot of work needed to be done the front end of her car to fit the fmic. Between cutting the front bumper steel, removeing AC lines, oowersteering lines, clearing out pathways for IC pipes. Then comparing that to the supra sidemount. It was a no brainer. A I did was remove some material from the section above the stock IC. And the supra IC fit right up with a few braces. The Ic pipes will cost about the same... But the supra core is usally half the price of the cheapest FMIC. So money wise it was better for me aswell. People have ran 400+ h cars with out heatsoak, so it should be more then adaquate for most of our daily drivers. Would I run it on my 2g? prolly not... But I plan on making awsome numbers with out ever using meth. So I will needas muh intercooler as I cget.

Isn't it more work to just pull the cold side than it is to just pull the turbo?

Didn't see that you wanted to avoid breaking a bolt. Don't be shy, use lots of penetrating oil and crack them free. Longer they stay in, more chance they will seize.

nah I'd need more room perpendicular to the block, so I'd need to break my radiator support My hand drill is BIG! I have the space to drill, just not enough for my hand drill, to try the reverse drill bit thing (as I'm more toquy than my drill :p)

I've also drilled out broken bolts stepping up the drill bit sizes, as long as you're perfectly center, you will eventually weaken the broken bolt where the threads were seized. It will turn out at that point.

That was the plan, until I noticed my dad stole my drill bit set and went to the cottage with them....
Only had a couple sizes here and, of course, not the ones I need to enlarge the hole.

Me - 1 Bolt - 0! NAHAHAHA Managed to save just enough thread from the original bolt to re-use it. That original bolt was glued/welded in by the looks of it. Tried easy-outs/reverse drill bit/heat/cold/unseize products...the works, nothing got to it. So drilled as much as I could, and used my dremel with a grinding bit for the rest Thanks to Bryan for his drill bit lending abilities (although I ended up buying some hardcore zirconium tipped ones since I was at CT anyway). So yours are still brand spanking new I also made sure to clean every part I took off, the water pipe was disgusting like most of the pipes for that matter. Now all I need to do is put everything back together, pray that the used alt I put in is good and she should be good for new tires and some tarmac! Also....Mike your parents make poutine? hmmmm I may want to visit

Think you could have run a 10 if your bushings did go kaput?
