Suggest going with a Saturn alt swap.
Longevity and power output is far superior and this can be accomplished with minimal modification.

Also on the Saturn alternator pro list is the fact that you can find a saturn alternator just about anywhere for a decent price. DSM alternators are hard to find and usually expensive. I run a basic sohv Saturn SL alt, which is the lowest Saturn alt they make and it runs fine. Just one wire to hook up.. Drosent drop in voltage, gives me lots of amps.
