Went to the track this weekend and managed to pull off a 11.855@124.9mph. Car actually hit the AEM boost cut setting in forth due to a spike, but I'll get that sorted out after I install the AEM boost solenoid.

This was @35psi and pump94 octane. 1.9 sec 60'

I also ran a 11.881@123.54 with a better 60' but less boost.

Hoping to run a much lower E.T. by end of season. Car is a 99GSX(Yuri's old car).

Congrats - that's a good run. I feel like the MPH is high for the time so I think you should be able to know off a mid 11, especially with a better 60' time. What turbo are you running?

Yes, MPH is good for a much lower ET, however, the car is full weight 2G including A/C. Probably a good 3500lbs with me in it.

Turbo is a GT4094R. Built motor and tranny.

It's got a lot more in it for sure, I went 11.7/118 on 25 psi(FP red) on a stock 7 bolt, 2g awd 3380lbs with me in the car.

Ar you using no lift to shift? With that turbo I bet you're loosing time on shifts that could be easily regained.

11.7@118 is really good driving. Congrats.

Yes, I actually am using NLTS and have it set to 6800rpm. Boost does drop to 15psi between shifts but I did notice a rather large exhaust leak pre-turbo. One of the nuts holding the turbo up to the manifold flange was missing, lol. I'll fix that.

In theory, a 1.6 60' would have netted me a half second faster ET, so 11.3 at best. 10's I think will be a stretch...

Its a GT4094r... I would think anything slower then 10s would be an insult to the turbo.

Just out of curiosity, what's your best time?

Im hopeing for 11s this year.. But my turbo is half of what you got.

And I understand that it takes alot of effort, and know how.. And an 11.7 is a fast run. But I hope you put it in the 10s eventually. Ive seen people running 11s with a gt35r and downgraded the turbo to a gt30r and are now touching 10s.

I've been around DSM's for a little while. I've had a 1G and 2, 2G's. I've ran T-25, 14B, 16G, 20G, FP Green, SCM-61, GT3582R and now a GT4094R. So I agree, it certainly does take a lot more than just a turbo to run 11's as you will soon learn.

What turbo are trying to get into the 11's with and what is your set-up?

Bws256et. It came off an 11 second car with the same mods. so I know it can do it. But like we said its not easy.

Haha.. no luck is buying a $3000 spyder, unseen, driving it 400kms home, bolting a hx40 on it and cranking the boost. running 11.5seconds.

Or running a 250,000km stock 7 bolt with a small 16g at 35 psi, with a xs power wastegate.. And hitting high 11s everytime.. For like 2-3 years.

I cant afford luck, Im very conservative. But I will max out this turbo. I hope you do too.

Congrats on the time but the gt40
Should be way quicker. Mph easy in the 140s. Keep tuning and trying new stuff.

Thanks Paul.

That run was 35psi, 11.8-12.0a/f on pump 94, 15degrees max timing, no meth. I want to see how far it will go on pump gas alone before trying meth.

Also, the 1150cc's are just over 80% too so keeping an eye on that as well.

Any suggestions to improve?

Work on your launches. 1.9 60' in an AWD car is hurting you. Are you spinning too much, bogging, or what's going on? You should be around 1.6-1.7. The car is making enough power to do it smile

I know. I did run a 1.79 that night but even that is not good enough. I was either slipping the clutch too much or the car was bogging a bit, launching at 6800. I'll try launching higher next time out.

I have run 1.6 short times before in my old 2G, but that was using a stock flywheel and 5700rpm launches. Same clutch and PP.

Just to give you an idea my 18g talon full
Weight car 24.5 25 psi of boost, stock engine just basic bolt ons runs 12.0@ 119.4mph. Something is holding your car back you need to figure out what it is.
my white car with 3794 turbo(smaller then yours) runs 10.9@140 at 34.5psi.all on 94 oct with some meth injection.

What tires are you running.. Im not an expert at launching.. But 6000+ rpm launch seems high for anything less the a full slick on a prepped track.

Lets see some pics and details on this car?

What a/f ratio do you run and what's your peak timing on the 3794?

Thanks.

I see only 1.9-2.1v on the knock sensor at 12.2-12.3afr @ 30psi so I will try that @35psi and increase timing as much as I can.

One problem I do have is the knock sensor registers higher ~0.5V with the meth on. I know its not much but I thought knock would be lower with meth. The car does go through a lot of meth through each pull so maybe the 4 nitrous nozzle set-up in each runner is dumping too much? Not sure. Its a 150psi AEM pump and 4 blue nitrous nozzles tapped one in each intake runner. Meth comes on full at 20psi, not progressively, and its 100%meth, no water. The AEM ECU cannot do a progressive set up as far as I am aware.

The other thing I noticed was I had a huge exhaust leak that night. One of the turbo to manifold nuts fell off, so exhaust was shooting out towards the alternator. I will fix that before I try again.

Cool. I tried 50/50 first, but when I noticed more volts on the knock sensor, I decided to go with 100%. Seems like too much is being injected so I will try 50/50 with a single nozzle in the UICP. Thanks.

I'd stick with 100% meth and would lean out the fuel to compensate. I experimented with different mixes. 100% always worked better for me.

2 x M14's. I basically throw in as much meth as I can and the remainder is fuel to keep the AFR's where I want them. I am able to keep duty cycles as low as possible this way while maximizing the setup.

Fix your exhaust leak, tune it well, launch it well and you'll have a 10sec car.

Thanks for all the input. I will definitely consider all the feedback and hopefully return with a faster timeslip.

All to say, the top end on the car feels nuts already, can't imagine what it will be like any faster, lol.

Easier said than done. rotflmao Although its a great time and good start, 11.8 @124 is quite far from tens.

I ran a similar time like 8 years ago. Here's the thread if you want to compare for some benchmarking:
http://www.ca.dsm.org/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=230081&page=1

EvoIII 16g with less mods, less boost. Eventually the same setup went 11.6@120 MPH.....

Ok, fixed the exhaust leak and am now seeing full boost in all gears. Prior to that, I was seeing like 20 in first, 25 in second and 35 in 3rd and 4th.

Hey Reza, at what boost level did you have the meth coming on in your setup. That's one of the things I haven't decided on yet, right now I was thinking 15psi and then I can get closer to the timing numbers you are showing.

Speaking of going way back..., here is one of my posts from 2003 when I went 13.2@101mph with a 14B @ 17-18psi.

Sorry. Crappy S3 camera. All I got. In all the launches, the car almost stays flat. No squat.

That was a great time for a 14b car back in 2003! A low 13 second car back then could lay some good smack down on the streets.

I remember I ran 13.2@103 on the 14b around the same time. When I came on this forum claiming my car had a 12 in it on the 14b, I got flamed from hell by a lot of members here telling me it was impossible! rotflmao People thought I was a dick for making such an outrageous claim laugh

Bryan,
I can't remember what boost the meth came on at. It's pretty simple, just see what the tune likes to keep the knock out. I was using a boost pressure switch. A couple of pulls and you can easily figure out what the car likes.

Thanks Reza, will slowly raise my timing back to stock and see where I start getting knock.
