Got tired of the old look. Leather was also finished. So took it off, got some perforated leather and got sowing!

Being perforated it's better in the heat and so much softer. Bulkier in the hand so great to hold. Funny enough, quite easy to do.

Even kept the undulation on the back side

You are pretty good at that G!

You could re-upholster mine when the time comes if it works out cheaper than finding and buying a replacement.

I'm wondering how my steering wheel would look with white or red stitching. And then eventually match the rest of the interior.

Looks good Gui! I may need you to walk me through that cause I think slightly bulkier would be nicer. The guy next door redid his seats but his head rests look like a$$ so I wasnt planning to go to him for advise.

Don't know if I'm THAT good, specially because the Evo wheel has different parts that intermingle together.

Sure, not working today if you want to pass by and try it out (or wkn). It's relatively easy to do and a good result for the time/money put in as opposed to changing the steering all together.

I am downtown these days, I will text you about saturday though cause that day looks free to me.

Yeah definitely agree, I put a nice looking wheel in when I got the car and the stitching is going again.

Looks good, did you buy it as a kit or did you do it all from scratch?

Bought a kit, came pre perforated, cut to size (diameter) and the ends were sown (double seem). You still need to sow it on the steering wheel, but other than that, nothing else to do.

Can't find the exact seller I got them from as it's been a while since I bought them, but this should give you a good example. Just grab one with the size of your wheel. Comes with thread, leather etc. All you need really. Fun little project with a good result. Not sure if your doing a 2g or 1g but I still have one left I bought extra in case I messed the first one up tongue Bryan may buy it but I can let you know if he doesn't need it.

Ah, so it is one of those kits, I've come across similar on those Chinese/ebay like sites.

Didn't really have a vehicle in mind, just good to know. Question though, how'd you get it to fit so well in the spoke area/follow the contours of the wheel in that area?

My 2g wheel is still in perfect shape, but if I could find a way to make the grip thicker in diameter & re-cover, that might be worth doing. The Evo wheel looks so much better but I don't want to lose air bag functionality.

Just really tight sowing and more threads in that region. If you want to be sure to get it incredibly tight, but this mostly applies just for real leather, is to heat it up before you sow it tight so it can stretch to its maximum and remain tight after it's sown.
