While searching stuff on tuners, I saw a thread like this and want to hear yours.

For me its been:

2G Talon: Chrome rims

2G Spyder: rear altezza's

1G (Green one): 4 switches hidden around the cabin that did nothing

12 feet of wire, going from back to front, under seats, into dash, all around. Not hooked into anything, just present. Think degaussing cables on WWII ships.

fuel pump rewire that did not get done. I am impressed not many people know about degaussing systems used on ships, I worked on one that had one built in 1944. MV_Abegweit_(1947)

Previous owner of my car was one of those people who really had no business touching wiring of any sorts. Apparently dollar store speaker wire is great general purpose wire for pretty much anything.

My car was bone stock when I got it besides an aftermarket UICP and a boost gauge but they must have been a home electrician because they wired the boost gauge in (the backlight) behind the gauge cluster with marettes. Not only that but they hacked up the wiring in the process.

Haha +1 on the speaker wire, I actually don't mind it though.
Unless you guys can link me to paired wire that I can swap it for as I just left it in there.

The guy that installed the security system decided to cut the tail light wire instead of tapping into it for when it flashes when locking and unlocking the car.

Not finishing the paint job he started would be another good one.

I think one of the worst is venting BOV without anything to compensate for the change.

Haha, yeah no kidding eh. By the time I fix all this stuff before winter at least 25% of the metal will not be original.

Another victim of a hacked wiring harness for the radio, with speaker wire running everywhere for aftermarket components...

Otherwise my car was stock minus an exhaust, hard upper and lower intercooler piping, and a clutch.

1g - Hacked radio wire and needed some definite cleaning. Was also missing the 3rd brake light (even the interior hatch trim wasn't made for it, I'm guessing hatch is from another car?) had to order those...new since I'm fussy. Was missing a bunch of stuff but knew that from the get-go and had spares, overall not so bad.

2g- Nothing smile Paid premium, but got premium back for my troubles!

-Air Fuel gauges wired off the O2 sensor
-Alternator relocation kits wink
-Power Steering delete
-Vented blow off valves on street cars that serve no purpose
-Anything that makes the car drive like crap just to make your engine bay look cleaner makes a sh!t DSM in my books.

Personally, I spend more time driving the DSM rather than staring at it in the garage. Functionality and driveability matters to me.

Not really a mod, but scared me the most. I had just purchased the car, was dealing with a sub power wire that the previous owner had ran in through the wheel well and stumbled on to this.

[Linked Image]

In a bit of a panic to see what I had over looked, jacked the car up, but could never find any missing studs.

Other then that worse mod was when a P.O. molded the side skirts/ aftermarket gas cap with body fill. It was at least 3/4" at the thicker parts. That car in general was full of headaches.

Unfortunately, that wasn't the worst part, the thicker sections looked like they were put on in one pass and were still a bit tacky once hammered off. That picture pretty much summed up that car though.

Just found today, glued-in license plate lights. Which of course don't work. (1g) So fixing that now with the blinkers.

Why don't people treat these cars with care...

That's not so bad. It beats twisted and taped wires.

I use crimps with shrink tube on interior stuff that's difficult to get at with solder. (ie. gauges)

Just test the crimp by tugging the wires and see if it's solid. then shrink it.

Wow, that is a beautiful steering wheel install, I never would have thought of that...

The worst one of late was a the previous owner didnt have any grounds hooked up, at all. The car ran like crap and was throwing a MAF code, I found a single ground going from the battery to the firewall, but it was maybe 8 gauge at best. Put a proper set of ground wires on and it ran great.

That pretty much takes the cake...a puck? That fucks up and you're flying right/left out of control. Not something you can half-ass mod.
