Robs red car was a good looking ride . That green and blue beast with the ghetto cooling line was uhm hmm can you say car crusher . The race segment was an anti-climax for sure. Some tuning time and a few test runs would have made it more interesting. Who got to keep the cars?

Well we did do a couple 1st gear pulls in the parking lot but that was pretty much it. The show was worried that something might happen to the car/engine and the cars wouldn't be able to run down the track. Also the cars were auctioned off to the highest bidder on EBay. Not sure what they went for. I must say that Rob Greer knows his sh.t. I'm glad he was on our side. I don't know when the show airs again, I guess you'll have to keep tuning in.

Team Ghetto won with a 14.3 or 14.8 ? vs a 15.2 in the 1/4. Robs team had a mid 13 on their practise run though and team Ghetto needed a part from them to be able to make their "winning" run.

Hey Jerry, I was on team "Ghetto." Real original name btw.
Either way you look at it, the styling was ALL Jeremy Gore. He's from this board as well and by looking at his own car, you can see where the styling ISSUES come from. Did you not watch the show and see how badly we didn't want to paint the car that color?
The two people who impressed me the most were Tony Vaz and my lead mechanic Anthony.
Their car was gorgeous because of James (who is also a good friend of mine). He chose the color, cut their bumper, chose the drag wing, and most of the good asthetics.
Our car was good for low 13s EASILY, even untuned. We had a 200 shot of nitrous. Our cars ran absolutely amazing the first time we went to the track (got rained out). The next time out (month later or so), both cars were running like bags and our nitrous mysteriously stopped working.
I had fun anyway and I'm sure Rob and Tony would agree.

I MOST IMPRESSED YOU!?!.....dude I just helped out.
Tim you didn't work with ROB but if you did you would surely say the ROB GREER is the man. That guy knows his sh.t! He knew all the technical stuff. I mostly worked on the body and most of all the under carriage stuff. Rob mostly engine,ECU Kory (which I wasn't impressed with) work on stereo, interior Jim, worked on front bumper and intercooler
We never did find out what happened to our car after the final run. I personally think that some happened to the timing belt.
BTW the Cadillac's were on this morning.

Besides the chain link steering wheel, I liked the interior. OKAY, I would NEVER put it in my car, but I thought it was cool and original.
Our audio guy, Brick, said the funniest thing to us when we first got onto the show. "Hey guys, I don't know anything about cars. I just wanted to be on TV."
Jeremy wasn't the boss, he whined so much that the show had to let him do something. From what I hear, he was the first chosen to be on the show and was deemed the Talon expert by the auditioners and such. To be honest, Brick was more of a help and he knew nothing about anything on the car.
I hate to bad-mouth Jeremy but he has no taste in cars what-so-ever. He actually thought our paintjob would have looked good and told us all we were blind and the two colors will work great together. Uhhhh, sure.

OK I got a idea for those who missed the show.
I could bring my copy of the show to the next Mississauga meet and someone could set up a couple laptops (so that the show could be played on to screens at the same time)and watch the show there. Also if someone who is able of burning DVDs that would a good time to do it.
Whats ya think?
ROB,TIM,JEREMERY,JIM it would be cool if you guys were there also.

haha I have to jump in here since your busting my balls here Tim.....The interior NOT my idea, to be honest I worked with what i had....The stereo installer??? I did all the wiring on that car...Bricks an awsome guy but basicly was anthonys bitch..the paint job it was insain looked like crap when done to ninja turtleish...would never do it again, the team was right. The colours were chosen by all of us "NOT JUST ME"...i shoulda just poured the blue and the green into one can and sprayed it like that....Both cars would have looked identical! the only difference in the 2 cars is the colour and Ours had nitrous, thats where the differences ended....i enjoyed the show...you wanna rag on me because my Show quality tasts were not upto the street racing scene thats fine with me. my 1G dsm runs low 12's,won more car shows then any other 1g in the country, been on 2 tv shows and in 2 magazines...so all in all im very proud of what I have done and wouldn't change a thing... tim and rob and all the other guys to be honest yous should have won...yous guys all clicked and had a great team. I didn't get along with anthony because Iv been workin on these cars for 8 years and know how they work and how not to destroy them and he is gonna tell me how to work on them i don't think so. these arn't mustangs or integras where they can be beat on... im sorry but when your lead mechanics whole goal in the show is to blow up the car and make everyone look dumb and never finish one job he started then ya....Awsome leader lol... anyways I had fun working with all of yous and maybe I will paint one of our military tanks blue and green just as a dedication to all you haters..lmao.... we won Tim, time to get over it, its been a year ..

Guys here is a heads up. According to the TV Tropolis (formerly Prime)schedule, looks like the Talon episode will be on tomorrow morning at 7:00am. So get your asses out of bed and check it out ! Here is a list of all the episodes: Season 2005/06 1995 Volkswagen Golf GTI 1995 Jeep YJ 1988 Mustang GT 5.0 1996 Chevy S10 pickup 1991 Eagle Talon Tsi 1980 Cadillac Coupe de Ville 1994 Dodge Neon 1969 VW Beetles 1990 Nissan 240SX 1991 Subaru Legacy Turbo 1969 Pontiac Firebird 1984 Mazda RX7 BTW after reading the post from Tim and Jeremy it felt like deja vu.

One of those cars was mine, I guess drama queen team was workin on it, I didn't watch the show... The fuzzy dash shocked me when I first saw it, one of the producers was like pretty cool eh? I wanted to projectile vomit on him but that wouldn't have fully displayed my disgust... =)
As far as some of the power mods, I think it's pretty much impossible and unfair for anyone to expect they could build a car in a week, with limited time to work on the car, and inability to tune the fuckin thing...

I think that we had as much tape time as the other team but like you said there was a bunch more drama on the other team then ours. We pretty much plugged away with little fuss. But I have to admit, listening to those fight especially Antony made me laugh and the time went by much faster. Oh btw it was freaking hot!!! As for the fuzzy sh.t, that was the brilliant idea of our interior guy Kory. I don't think that guy got I oil stain anywhere on his clothing!!! I had actually went out to Fabricland and brought some suede pieces to spice up the interior a bit. But as you seen that went by the way side. Nigel, it wasn't a week, it was 72 hours and we used pretty much every minute of it. Till this day we still have no clue what happen the car on its final run, but I suspect timing belt. Anyways I thought the show came out pretty good but I have a kinda of biased opinion.

Tim, I'm not sure what you were expecting.
Here are a few points (not directed at you): -Tony, Jim and I spent quite a few hours making a very detailed plan for the car. Most of the plan went out the window on the first day. The producers didn't order some of the parts we requested. Also, we got some of the same parts that our opponents ordered. They did it to save money (and maybe to cause some excitement). I was pissed. This really killed my enthusiasm for doing the show. -the "Jet" tool chest was inadequate. I brought in my own tools. We used my tools more than the ones the show provided. The other team even borrowed my tools! -Our team got along very well. Admittedly we were probably not good TV. I guess the producers figured that whining/fighting/name calling is more interesting than watching actual work getting done. They took plenty of footage of us, they just decided not to show it. There was one particular incident that I wish they had shown but chose not to for some reason.
PPG: We thought about asking you but I knew you would not leave your car with them or let them drive it. They drove the car to the location.
Our car was quicker/faster but sadly, broke on the money run. What can I say?
I didn't see a problem with doing the translator. Steve made up a special chip for me. Thanks again man! The translator adjustments were set to zero. We intended to only use it for fine tuning (which didn't really happen).
It was a bitch. It was freaking hot and the shows' parts ordering guys screwed up constantly. I had to hold their hand every step of the way. In the end, I'm glad I did it.

I finally got to watch this episode. Although I must admit that the track runs were a bit of a disappointment, I guess with only so much time to prepare and no tuning time, not much can be expected! I DID find it entertaining none the less. I found Rob's team worked well and professionally, with class! The other team, well, they were entertaining, though I did come to dislike that Anthony character. In the end, the other team could not even have made their "money run" and "win" without a part donated by Rob's team. I thought that showed class, in the true spirit of a DSMer. I think BOTH teams were winners. About the parts issues, I feel a little guilty. I supplied a lot of the parts (mostly at or near cost), but the producers approached me with a "shopping list", and I just assumed this was each team's "wish list". I thought the fact that the two lists were so similar was just because those were all excellent mods to do.... In any case, I enjoyed it, and will treasure my copy of this show for a long time

I didn't mean any insult to the people on the show, building a car in 3 day's must have been a huge challenge, what I ment to say is unfortunately the producers in thier attempt to make the show "tv friendly" and have an entertainment aspect felt the need to leave all of the fabrication talent, as well as all of the other talent that was evident, and just mainly focused on the crap intenal team bickering.

Hmm what shows does that remind us of hmmm uhmm ...christ Paulie would you shut up while I think...get Mikie to help you finish bolting those parts together that I ordered oops I mean finish "fabricating" that corporate sponsored theme bike so we can engage in some redneck activity for fun. Nope that wasnt it ...whats that Boyd? Get back to work on the hot rod cause we only have 12 days to make our bestest car ever. Damn Boyd that only leaves us 5 days after the bitching, moaning and all the other entirely unprofessional antics required to slap together a shiny looking vroom vroom for one of the dozen people without a tv set who obviously have never seen how we build cars.

Wonder what the shipping would cost me That red car has almost all the body mods i've been wroking on for 9 months. Shaved wrap around spoiler, shaved emblems, no decals etc. I still would have gone black on top tho.

I made a quick, dirty, uncut VHS capture of it. The machine I normally use for my captures is in Montreal so i had to make do with what I had on had. Sorry about the flicker and it being in wmv format but its better than nothing. I created a torrent so that the more people who have it the faster everyone else will get it. I will be seeding from 2 locations one I get it upped to my Montreal machine. http://www.mininova.org/tor/526437 I almost forgot, merry xmas CA.DSM. this is my gift to everyone.

Watched it tonight, pretty interesting. The leopard interior was kind of.. well... different... Blue and Green.... again... different.
I think Rob's car looked the nicest overall exterior. I really liked the decal on the front.
The fact that it ran a 15 sucked, but hey, it was untuned right?
Good to finally see it thought!

I am trying to download it as we speak, hoping it'll speed up a bit ... only downloading at 4kb/second as for this quote: Originally posted by Tim Grech: Hey Jerry, I was on team "Ghetto." Real original name btw.
Mysteriously stopped working eh.? Its been known that War of the Wheels is not the fairest reality show out there right now. My buddy Farmer was on the 240sx episode (huge guy with short blond hair)... They have had a couple ... issues with the rules being one way, and being treated as others, and the fact that the producers were paid off to allow one team to... have the upper hand... either way, entertainment is all it is eh? Matt

I finally got to see it.
Wasn't too bad, but I don't get how they expected you to drive an untested and untuned car down the track. Thats suicide in my opinion.
I think they should have given each team two private hours at the track to get everything set up properly.

FAK.
Beneton's flavor car won by chance. I wish that Geremy of Tim would of give that Antony caracter a wrap behind the head.
Anyway, I found it fun to watch and defenately some good "team player" from Rob's team.

Nothing like bringing up a very old post. Was going through some old DVDs and came across the DVD that had the eposide where some of the Club DSM Canada members including yours truly, were in. I seen skylon in person a few times. It definitely.....ugh unique.
In all honesty, I feel its ugly as frack, but Jer put a lot of work into it, mostly himself, and I respect that immensely. Craftsmanship and building as a hobby with your hard earned money, is something most wont understand.

Pretty lame how there was no test and tune. Seriously, bad fracking producing. Who wants to watch two cars break down on the track. Morons. Whoever thought it was a good idea to let two teams put new motors in the car with 12k worth of new parts and not let them tune the cars at least..........well i dunno, they are just dumb.
Im not TV producer, but I promise, I could have made a more exciting show with a few simple suggestions.
Kinda regretting my decision to back out. Meh, thats life.

I have always liked that car, But Im a huge fan of hotrod'n! and customized street machines! Never got into that anti-rice bandwagon sh!t, The most important mod to my car is make it NOT look like your car!
Cool Show, sucks that they couldnt tune them. I like how anthony wasnt boasting his win cause he knew the race was lost by both teams anyway. Faster or not, you cant be happy with a 14.
I seen that episode when it oringanlly aired, and was dissapointed, but When I seen all the dsm's on passtimes, I got wondering...Mabye since the aftermarket is owned by honda.. mabye the shows are rigged to make the talons look bad so everyone buys hondas!
Even on bullrun, they killed off the EVo early in the series!

I've always loved that episode, especially since I've met both Tim Grech and Rob Greer in person, they are both excellent guys, and smart as hell.
Great episode, and I'm sure the original cast is all watching it and going "Well, in hindsight, I would have done this differently....."

It was great to watch but felt so gypped that it was all drama and 'personal' stuff...where was the technical applications? The fiberglassing the team did for the rear enclosure, the mechanic work that accounted for 20pts of the total score (why was one more mechanically sound than the other), etc... What I would love is the disclosure of the budget. What did each team spend their 12g on? All-in-all, it was amazing watching two heaps turn into glossy machines afterwards (other than the clashing two-tone and gorilla fur to cover up the peeling vinyl...ugh...) Good inspiration what 4 guys in 3 days were able to accomplish, so one guy in two months of weekends might be able to accomplish. Must say the eagle decal made that car's exterior edit: what did they go for on ebay? are they still in one piece now? status?

Well ....if you really want to know what happen to the red Talon you don't need to look any further. I BOUGHT IT! It’s been sitting in the garage for the last 4 1/2 years! I had big plans for it but I never seem to have time to play with it. I knew something happened to the motor at the track but I wasn't sure what it was. When the car arrived I noticed right away that the engine was running on 3 cylinders. Check compression and sure enough # 3 cylinder was dead. Took the head of and found only 1 valve was bent not the pair! Can't remember if it was the intake or exhaust. The only thing I can think of that might of cause this was when James drove it down the track he must of missed a shift and over revved the motor causing the oil pump to over power the relief valve which cause the valve to stay open for a fraction of a second to long. Anyways here sits the car and contemplating on selling it. The car hasn't seen rain for the last 5 years because it has been sitting in the garage ever since. I never got emission test done, or certified and I never put on the road. The only driving I have done with it was driving it around the block a few times. BTW the decal on the hood is actually made of a reflective material and it really stands out at night when a light is pointed at it. Maybe some day I'll finally put on the road or if some offers me some dough for it I might just sell it. I took some pictures of last year after I washed it. Hope the link works. Red Talon

-Still have the seats. -I removed the Gorilla hair for obvious reasons. -The screen, box, and the Boost controller were stolen at the track when all the racing was over. -Jamal not sure what you mean about the coolant line but keep in mind that we only had 72 hours.

On one of the talons, someone didn't use their brain and ghetto rigged a coolant line into another which obviously opened up under pressure down the track, lol. Looked hacked to me too.
I guess that is what he was referring to.

hahaha, I know, that paint job ruined that car And it was probably the skylon guy's hack up. The kid with the shaved head who was porting the hell out of everything reminded me of Brendan Warwick, haha. Brendan will port the hell out of anything and everything

Fuk, I was young. I think 20 or 21 at that time. Watching makes me feel old.
Watching that brought back a lot of suppressed memories. The shaved headed guy is a good buddy of mine. We auditioned together out of boredom with Eric Lang but obviously only the two of us were chosen. We wanted to be on the same team obviously but we had no choice in that.
The show was rigged unfortunately. When we initially put the car together, it ran great. We went out to the track and did some practice runs in the empty parking lot with the nitrous hooked up and the car boogied. Unfortunately rain came in right before our runs and we were forced to reschedule for a later date. On that later date, our nitrous mysteriously stopped working, our shifter cables were loose and the coolant line was hacked. I can guarantee no one on my team would be THAT stupid to hook up the coolant line like that. The other team had their own issues and we’re all sure the production team set the cars up for failure.
I wasn’t driving because I was 20 years old and the team leader was more experienced and the show felt more confident in his driving ability. He couldn’t launch an AWD if his life depended on it. He was a funny guy though. Lots of laughs happened that week.

I'll put in a couple of cents (in no particular order). First off: Team Torque was a good team and we built a pretty good car despite the best efforts of the folks running the show to purposely screw us over.
We had a great time laughing when the other team was fighting amongst themselves (which was constantly). There were a few times I thought they were going to start swinging at each other. Maybe they did.
Every tool supplied by the show was broken in some way. Even the vice on the workbench was broken! Imagine how pissed you get when its down to the last few hours, the MIG welder runs out of wire and all they have is 0.035" wire, the machine is setup for 0.023" wire, you scrounge up a drill bit to open up the tip, and the damn vice wont hold the tip so you can drill it!
The toolbox supplied was a joke, all the common sizes of tools were missing or broken. I brought my own tools every day and I even let the other team use them.
Our car was originally red and the paint was actually pretty good. The producers wanted to force us to paint the car and make sure both cars were not red at the start, so they sprayed our car with a coat of primer. No scuffing was done before the primer was sprayed. Tony wiped the primer off with rags and solvent, the whole flippin' car!
The producers were on a fairly tight budget. They didn't order the parts we spec'd for the car until our episode started filming. So they were constantly asking me if we could buy some other part instead. I asked why they didn't order sooner, they said they had to sell the cars from previous shows to get money to buy parts for us! What a great way to waste money on overnight shipping from the US (in some cases).
It was an extremely challenging, stressful, F-ed up situation all around. In the end was I glad I did it? YOU BET! Once in a lifetime experience (for me at least, I'm sure).

WOW, this takes me waaaaay back.
I love how the guy makes fun of my ghetto ass fuel pump wiring, and then puts a chain link steering wheel, fuzzy dash, and oh 10k worth of mods to run what 4 seconds lower then I had it running when I sold it to WoW.
Good times.

i just finished watching that episode and wow!! Congrats Rob and Tony!! You guys and your team held great composure, put together a MUCH nicer looking ride and we all know who really "won" that competition. I hope none of the other team are members here on this board when I say, WHAT A JOKE!!!!! not even nitrous saved those fools.
I do have a question though, why did those 2 team members miss the final day?

The car ran beautifully when we finished. The show made up a lot and did a lot of rigging. The paint job was horrible and killed the car. And don't take the show or the car so seriously. It's 6 year old tv show produced for nothing more than entertainment. Sincerely, -A fool and a joke.

Don't worry about it Tim, I took it for what it was. Looked pretty messed up on the show's perspective so the people in it don't have much of a choice but to use/do what they are obligated to, due to issues/rulings.
Still entertaining to watch and I'm sure it was fun, even with the arguing, to play with one of these on TV with a time restraint.

Hopefully you didn't take any offence to that, I merely wanted to cheer on rob and tony. Hey, why weren't you on their team?? maybe we could have seen one the cars go 12 seconds on the qtr. Ps. Thank you video for educating me on how NOT to mod an interior looool JK
