I will be there, but without my car....turbo is in, all i need is the piping, which is being done next week. Then week after dyno at Tapps. There was a 2 week delay since I had to order another turbo from Texas. See you guys at the May meet. Rich has the exact same car as me, in mint condtion too. Shawn

I should be there. Now, for some roads to go on? What about our first track day? Any thoughts of when that will be? It would be best to go in cooler temperatures so the times are quicker. I know all these new Talon owners want to see what there babies can do, especially the converted FWD to AWD guys. For driving, if it is windier roads the only option is Quebec so I think that will need more planning. We can always just cruise from location to location, or big lot to big lot seeing the road selection is not that good on the Ontario side unless you go out past Arnprior, which is far and who wants to risk Chuck breaking down that far out. Anyways, these are suggestions. Anyone else have any? Just cruising is fun for me. Do a lap around Ottawa, into Aylmer\Hull, through Gatineau, than onto the ferry in the Orleans side (make for some cool pictures, a ferry full of Talons). Just tossing out ideas.

Hey guys,
I'll be at the meet unless the car isn't ready. I would be happy to head up to the track too. It would give me a chance to tune the car a bit. Either way I'll see you guys on Sunday.
Chuck: I'll have something for you to look at too.

That is hardly a repair worth mentioning except it sounded like Jays Lightning. So have we decided what and where we are going to go/do? Chuck, how will we operate the new Car Cam?

Shawn. Wouldn't you be worried about picking up water from the location of the air filter? Tom: The car cam will be in effect. I would like to try and lie down in the trunk facing the rear. (Hatch up about 6 inches (with 2x4's)) and film everyone pulling up to the rear of your car fast then cut out and pass. Should be good. Also an uphill twistees would be cool (shot from the side of the road). Everyone make sure to bring your radios. If you have spares. Bring them too. Not everyone has one. Any more ideas are welcome. Maybe we should storyboard this one. and then assign tasks. Welcome to: Let's make this one count. And we'll have some nice weather for cruising.

Chuck/Tom, love the car cam idea, sounds like it will produce some AWESOME footage!
Shawn, I gotta ditto what Chuck said, that could be a possible source for some nasty hydrolock! (sp?)
Ali, I've checked out a few back roads in my neck of the woods (East of Rockland) and there are a few good twisties, the only problem is that most of them are either under contruction repairs or in need of them! I know out around Casselman area there are some good back roads too but I'm not sure what kind of condition they're in right now or what the "traffic presence" is like either. I will get in touch with one of my buddies who lives out that way and see if he can give me some details on that area.

If anyone has some free time on friday / Sat night or such. Let me know. We can go hunting for roads.
Also for Sunday. I would like a shot of 2 First Gen DSM's in the front. (Hidding the two 2nd Gens in the back.) then the 1G's split (left-right) and the 2G's rip past them (middle)Then the 1G's tuck back behind. Same thing happens again using the 2G's but this time stay 4 in a line. Then 2G's shoot past the cam. 1G's swerve out and pass the cam as well.
So many ideas... should be fun.

We should consider going to the Corel center or someplace that has a HUGE parking lot for those kind of money shots, then we can play around at it without having to worry about traffic, obstacels, pets, people etc getting in the way! Gary p.s. I like your choreographic direction, KEEP IT UP!

shawn: they do sell units that go just after your filter that prevent the water from getting into a engine...I seen them even put most of the filter right underwater...but sorry bud I don't remember what there called...if I get a chance I'll try to look it up...might not be a bad invenstment on your engine..(ie hydrolock)
Ali: I might be interested, I need some serious tuning...
Hey does any of the 2G'ers have a datalogger?? what do people think of splitting on one... how many 2g's do we have:
Tom Ali Garrett Billy Gary Adam Yasar Peter Did I forget anybody... so if the palm cable is @300$(new) then if 4 (out of 8) split then it's 75$/person...tha's a bit more tangable...then we can have a web site or something that posts the results..and create a schedule for who has the palm when..what do you guys think??
well see you guys on sunday

The problem with this one is that not all 2Gs have the same hookup for datalogging, I believe anything 96 and up will be ok (they're all OBDII compliant) but some of the 95s (I believe mine would be part of the some) are not OBDII compliant which means they need a different pinout/connector to log. Palm Pilot logging is good but I've seen some of the PC (or in this case laptop) software that's available and I think you'll find that they can do a lot more (track a lot more that is, some tunning can be done too I think but I'm not 100% sure about that aspect)
I did a lot of "looking into" getting setup for datalogging last winter and got so discouraged with it that I just said f**k it in the end! If you guys come up with something that will work with my ECU though you can count me in!
Gary
p.s. I have an older laptop that could be used for this kind of thing, its not fast (Pentium 166 with 96 MB of RAM) but you don't need to get too fancy for datalogging either.

Shawn. Wouldn't you be worried about picking up water from the location of the air filter? I should be ok, Chuck I asked him that. He said he has done it on many cars, and the K&N will hang upside down, and high enough that no water will even touch the filter, unless im in 2 foot deep water. Any water/rain that gets up to the filter on normal roads will be very fine mist, this should be ok, he is also sectioning off the K&N from the bottom. We will see, went in to that shop today. Car will be out next weekend, not this one, DAMN!! Sounds like it will be fun this weekend guys, i would be in for chiping in on the datalogger if it could hook up to the 1Gs, I do have a 2G MAS...so tuning would be the same, ECU would be the problem. ah that news to me...I thought all 2G's were ODBII...my mystake.. I'll look into the options then...but yeah your right there is a very different pinout from the harnesses.. so I guess there are more ODBI cars then...maybe you guys can get that together then... Dsm Link - Laptop ODBII Pocket Logger - Palm ODBII or ODBI

I have an AEM EMS which datalogs for me, so I won't be needing one. I might join you guys this weekend, depending on work being done to my car. I have a fuel rail, FPR, and some fuel lines going in, along with my new clutch, boost solenoid, and possibly my new struts, but I'm not sure of the timing. If things aren't scheduled till next week, I'll be there, but not runs at the track till that damn clutch goes in. Shawn: Be worried about hydrolock with the filter there. I've seen three cars with that placement, and all of them fell victim to hydrolock.

No need for a datalogegr for me either. My car is tuned. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. I will be there as my car is all better. Had a slight boost leak but all taken care of. No more S/C sound. Those camera ideas are a good one. Have to find a WIDE road to do it on. That is where the cameras will come in handy. Call out directions easier. Roads, I cannot think of any that are within 45 minutes of the west end and even than, they have twisties but nothing worth driving there for. More like you end up on the road and go "cool road" and that is it. I think just destination to destination to destination type of thing. That way we all know where we are going, no need to pull over and wait. Just keep going as others will get there still in groups. I will invite a surprise a guest to come out. He has returned to our fair city and has unleashed his beast to the unsuspecting public. That would be "v8kilr". He and Billy can duke it out for tops honours as Chris will not be there. He will be more than likely mountain biking. Aly, Saturday for some runs? I may tag along. If it is cool enough, I may make a few passes myself. MI_SS_IL has surpassed me and I cannot have that.

Hey guys and gals, I don't think I'll be able to make this one either this Sunday. I'm moving back home either thursday night or friday morning. I contemplated just driving up though Sunday morning, cause this all sounds like a lot of fun. I'll see what the wife thinks about it, if she wants to tag along.
As for the datalogger, I won't be needing one either. Being the rocket fast n/t ESi that I am, there would be no need. Maybe in the fall, once Hahn Racecraft decides they're going to send me a free turbo kit for some odd reason, lol.
But seriously, thats my goal for this summer, is a Stage 1 kit from Hahn. We'll see how much school I have to pay off first.
Anyways guys, if I don't make it this sunday, I must say I had a blast these past 8 months. Going to the track for the first time was incredible (high 16's! lol) monthly Denny's meets were good, and buying Ali's 18's were even better, other then he didn't tighten to well that all 4 wheels almost fell off when I was on the 401. But seriously, I met some really cool people up here, and I can't wait to get back in September. Billy will probably be running low 11's high 10's by the time I get back, Cindy will have a sweet TSi thats faster then Chucks car, Tom will have a crazy tan by the end of the summer because of his sunroof, and Ali and Yasar will be known for smoking C5 corvettes in Ottawa.
Anyways, I look forward to keeping in touch with all of you on the board, and I will definately be coming up in the summer for a monthly meet. Yorkdale meets in TO is all hype anyways, they don't even compare to Ottawa! lol.
Anywyas guys, have a good one, I have to get back to packing. GOod luck to all. Ciao

Good call bro. I wouldn't want something shitty to happen in the rain after all the work that has been done. My intake is sufficient the way it is under the hood, so don't worry about airflow. Hope everything goes well, and we see you out sooner than later. Billy Originally posted by shawn mccorkell: Thanks for the warning Billy. I did some research.
Hydrolock is when your the engine sucks water in through the filter. This damages your engine. As such it is very risky to drive with the full stack CAI during heavy rain. Do that at your own risk.
So I am not taking any chances and going with the regular under hook 3" intake pipe.
Thanks,
Shawn

Hey guys,
Don't think I'm going to make it out this time. I'm getting my new clutch (2100) put in at Spaz tomorrow so driving for the first little while will be cautious.
Let me know how it goes and get some video to send around.
