Not sure I buy it just yet. Mitsu used to display at the Toronto show even before they had a dealer network in Canada. Ever year we'd ask when they'd start selling the Eclipse in Canada, and every year they'd say "it's coming next year!!". I know the EVO VIII was on display at the 2004 Toronto auto show and we all know how that turned out for us. Call me a skeptic, but I won't believe it until I see one at a dealership. For those worried about the price of the EVO, a Mitsu rep in Australia has said that the new Ralliart is designed to compete with the (non-STI) WRX, and will have a turbo and AWD. So probably a simpler powertrain and drivetrain, more like our DSMs than the EVO. I sure hope it's all true!

I'll wait till I see one in here. Now we have to remember that the Canadian to be EVOX will hit the press in Nov 07.
Still one of these model has got to go through Transport Canada nazi testing.
Wish all of us some luck.

The evo x will probably cost right about 50k cdn, just as much as the wrx sti if not a bit more. Add taxes/options and you're looking at 60k out the door. The bmw 335i twin turbo costs around the same, you have a boy racer car in one hand and an upscale coupe in the other... tough choice.

I was at the autoshow today installing the areo kit on the spyder and some other accessoires. Just got to say Mitsu has a good display of cars this year. Got to see fully loaded 07 Outlander (leather, sunroof, and dvd player for the rear seats)nice. Also the Endeavor Ralliart really nice. And got to see the 2008 Lancer and the Evo Concept X, got to say these cars look alot better in person. Something worth checking out.

But maybe it was 05 when that happened. I'm pretty sure it was 2004, but it might have been 2003. It was a yellow EVO VIII on display with all the other models. But of course other markets (Europe, Australia) get the much cooler Outlander Turbo (with the EVO VIII 4G63 and AWD). No love for us Canadian Mitsu fans! They definitely have a nice lineup though, even better once the new Lancer arrives. Dave, do they have the Eclipse Ralliart on display?

Sad to say but no they didn't have the eclipse ralliart there. Would have been nice if they did.

O.k, guys like i said before it's official , the Evo 10 will go into production late 2007 and will be sold in Canada in the beginning of 2008, price expect to pay $53,000 or so, but i think is worth to go and see, its nothing like seeing this car right in front of you. The flare on the fenders front and rear are just breathtaking, the extraordinary wide wheels that makes its stance look so mean. check it out if you get a chance. -Manuel

You will not find in any other color at this time since this is the only car they have made, this is the same car that its been all over the world. B11 engine turbocharged, aluminum head and block, SuperAWD (S-AWD), six speed transmision, i did not get a straight answer if they will come with a manual gear box. -manuel

I don't think converting different currencies is a way to predict the MSRP. If it's $53k in Canada, they might as well not bring it. The STI is, what? $47? It might fetch a small premium above that, but not $6k. It has 20" rims on the concept too, that won't make it to production.

It sucks for boost, anyway. You could always fit an iron sleeve kit to it...
You can't go by currency exchange. You see how most cars sell for a premium above what they go for in the US. That's the important thing, that they'll be importable used (or new) from the US for a more reasonable price.
As much as I like the EVO concept, or the STi, I wouldn't spend $60k on them. I'll take an Audi or Bimmer instead, thank you very much. Part of the EVO charm was that it was REASONABLY priced, a factory hopped-up Economy sedan that could compete with a supercar.

Come to think of it that is pricey specialy after you said and done it's 60 k out the door. Yes sr, that is what the price range will be. you guys have to remember that the evo 10 will be way more than the evo 9 used to be. It will be more "luxurious" besides,i dont know if you guys have read anything about the S-AWD system but it just amazing, if the evo 9 used to handle like a train on tracks this thing would and it will outperform it easy. Ever since the reviews atarted about this car it was known that price was going to increase to the price range i was told, also it was known that the car was going to be for the people that would it be on the market for something more like an IS350 but that would want the performance and handaling of and evo. Anyways, we all know what the huge downfall is with this beautiful looking car, no 4g63 means power restriction, and is kind of "de dee dee" having to open you engine and having to sleeve it to make some extra power, i guess i would have to wait and see what the shops are going to do before thinking to go and get it. And if the things dont look good then i would bring a good and loyal evo 9,(since i now know how to bring one), or maybe like troy said go buy a bimmer or an audi ,even when those two togeter would not perform any close of what any of the evo's would. -manuel

I just got back from the show today and I'm pissed at Mitsu for not having the same car that was in Detroit. It was the Right Hand Drive car with 4 racing seats, that freaky steering wheel, different rims, headlights....
I wanted to see the car that's set to be the North American car. I didn't even bother to talk to anyone at Mitsu about the car.
Argh!
Oh, and if it turns out to be $53k, the BMW 335XI was there for $52k. 300 hp, 300 lb/ft, twin turbo 6 cyl. I don't know much about BMW, but for the same money, it'd be hard to pass up. TT & 6 cyl should be fairly easy to boost hp by another 60-70.

You'd be surprised. 'V' engines don't seem to be as sturdy overall as inlines. Manuel, at that price range, it's not about absolute power unless it's a 'play car'. I'm pretty sure a BMW or Audi S-series will give me plenty of luxury, driving feel, and 'enough' power. Or something a bit more reasonable, and adedicated weekend or track car for the same money. And no 4G63 means power restriction? Last I checked, there were other engines making good power as well. Take the DSM blinders off, Man! As for the EVO X being so much better than the IX, I recall the IX being beaten by a VI, and don't think they've won any Rally championships since the VI... More size and technology means less of a performance gain, and a higher price. You can play with an all-aluminum block. SCC did it with a turbo Matrix XRS. But I imagine it would be touchier and would require more care, and ultimately hold less boost than if it had iron sleeves. Don't get me wrong...It's about time. But remember paying $32k or so brand new for your Talon TSi's in '95 and up? Would you pay near $50k for the same car new today?

I think you are right, i should take the blinders off. But you are right too i am looking for a play car. Come one can you imagine anything better for a track day car?. a car that you could just go to dealer ship ,pay for and go straight to Shannonville and have the most fun with out even changing tires, while spanking almost anything on you way?. I guess i just cant imagine my self being so touchie with an engine, i just like the brute power that the 4g63 can give you with minors boltons. Plus aluminum block requieres more mula. i mean is not the 2jz-gte, but combine with the awd and no tire spin and awsome handlaling it is the car to beat. This car will outperform the evo 9 in handling by far, but like i said the downfall would be the engine. But like you stated mitsubishi hasnt won many rallys lately, so this could be the asnwer.that mitsu enginners have been working on and this new B11 would be more than meet the eye. Oh by the way, mitsu hasnt been winning because of Robert and Levyatov.JK -Manuel

Drivers are a big part of it, but I remember when they changed from the VI to the VII. Like when Subaru changed it's design, their top drivers left a few months into it because they were frustrated with the car's performance. Couldn't compete with the quick little Focuses (Focii? ), Peugots and Citroens with the larger, heavier cars... My idea of a play car, track day car? While an EVO would be awesome, I'd have to seriously look at something like a Lotus Elise.
