Hee haa!!!

Some of the Canadians have claimed titles.

Just wait for them to claim their glory.

I know that some of you are dying to hear the results but that's the price to pay for not coming over.

Hope this helps.

Ghislain.

Wow, what a shootout! It doesn't get much better than that. Im fighting a nice sun burn. Our cars ran perfect there and back and the dyno went great. Hey Quebec, thanks for the fireworks show. I hope you guys aren't in too much trouble. It's going to take us a week at least to get our second wind. Can't wait till next year.

Great Shootout! Shep, Low and Buschur's passes were awesome! DSM Quebec guys claimed a title.

I broke a rim on the way down and Peter broke his rear tierod (F'in Detroit I75 road) but other than that, no problems whatsoever!

Great Shootout, can't wait for next year. Good to meet everyone I did and great to see some of the works of art down there!

Buschur have anything that you could use to fix it up?

Peter got a rear camber arm from Buschur to fix it, I believe he got it for free. We threw it on at the Plantation.

As for me, nope, liability issues. However they did give me a stock rim and tire and lugs for free. The tire/rim size equaled to what I have.

I called Motegi and I can get a brand new rim shipped to a buddy's shop for 120 CDN. To fix it would have cost 300CDN at The Wheel Fix in TO. So I am going to just buy a new rim, the tire's still good. All is well.

Great weekend!
A few bumps (or should I say freeway speedbumps) along the way but all in all it was amazing. Crazy amounts of 10 second cars and I got to see Peter get beat by the minivan. It was forsale, Pete, you should've traded him for your car. wink

Erik K, Ryan L, Adam G, Paul Bratina, Ziggy, great to meet you guys and put some faces to names. Scott and Ghis, always a pleasure.

Hopefully next year I'll have something worth taking down there.

Cheers.

Hello.

Just got back about one hour ago and again it was a blast.

My best was 12.808 at 107.90 with a R/T of .740 and a 1.853 60'.

My intention was to do a 12.6 and was hoping for a 12.4 but it did not happend. Maybe next year.

I had the chance to run with Rob Greer which was pretty cool but I have to admit defeat in here. Rob did an excellent run which gave him a voctory. Congrads Rob and I hope that one day we'll meet again for a rematch.

I did not entered the B2 elimination as I was getting some misfire between 6000 and 6500rpm. I think that is because of a bad set of Plugs. I should of replaced them this Spring and opted to reuse last years Plugs. Oh well, that will be my yearly "whine".

Weather was pretty good and most of us got roasted by the sun.

Buschur did an excellent job organising (fak sp???) this event.

I really hope to see Troy Bennett to come over next year. I had the chance to met him when I went to Nova Scotia this summer and I'm sure that you would have lots of fun. For sure it would be a long drive but it would defenately be a good experience.

TTYL.

Ghislain.

He came with the hope to do a 10.6 pass and did a 10.59.

Pretty cool if you ask me.

Shootout was amazing, and a great show from the Quebec crew! My Talon survived the entire trip, but the drive home from work today I blew my PS A/C belt... at least I'm home. Guys, I am already pumped for next year! I'll post pictures soon

The trip did not start out very well for me, Lydia my gf lost her wallet and all the money we had so we almost left saturday morning. I talked her into staying and lo and behold a friendly citizen found it and brought it to us with all money intact.

Were going to send him a card or note saying thank you.

The people at the Plantation were very nice to let us camp there for cheap ($10 a tent/night).

I managed to have a few beers with most everyone (who was staying at the plantation anyways). I also got to experience the "Bacon" gravy this morning at Sterks. Let me tell you the windows were way down on the way home.

Other than hitting 2 hours of traffic in Toronto (never seen it that bad in my life) it was a good trip home.

Next year my car has to make it, just didn't feel as authentic as it should have. Especially following a cravan with a cavalier.

Thanks to those that made it a good time,

see ya next year!

This will probably get long...

The weather on the way down was good. I little on the hot side, but not as bad as the last time I went (who needs air-conditioning??). Of course, I drive a DSM, so SOMETHING had to happen. About 1/2 way there, I starting watching my oil pressure gauge drop. DOH! not good. It didn't drop to nothing, like it normally does when the wire comes off the sending unit. It was just reading lower than normal... then lower.. and a little lower.

After staring at it for 170kms, I noticed that it seemed like the reading was almost dependant on vehicle speed, more than engine speed. We made it to the Plantation, I jiggled the wire a bit, and it fixed it. Good news, but it still made the trip down more stressful than it needed to be.

Saturday, up for breakfast at Sterk's (MMmmm bacon gravy!), over to Buschur's for the dyno day/hang out. Then, back to the Plantation for a lot of beer, and a LOT of trash talking.

Sunday... race day!

Up early, off to the track, and time for some runs!

First run was a 12.6 . Hmm.. I thought Mark told me I'd be faster here.. MPH was down a bit too. Tried making some slight changes, and squeaked off a 12.58. Looked at some logs, and saw some knock that didn't really want to go away. Made another pass 12.63 Decided I wasn't going to be breaking any personal records here, and entered B1 (0-12.99) with a dial in of 12.60. (DS eliminator was a FAST class this year, so there was no point in me entering that..)

First round of eliminations was bitter sweet. I got staged against Mark. If I won, I'd be able to bug his ass off all night, but it would mean a GOBC out of the game in the first round. Oh well, one of us had to go. It was him. :-) He got a little nervous, and red-lighted.. I let off a little before the traps and pulled a 12.68. Get to the "shack" to pick up my timeslip. While I was picking it up, I heard this weird carnival/circus type music. WTF? I thought.. I guess those stuffed dragons I bought for the girls play music... Oh well, I beat PPG's butt, so back to the staging lanes..

Ian has decided to have a little fun with me. He convinces the announcer, that I'm sponsored by "Peckerhead Racing" and now I can here myself being called "The Peckerhead of Racing" over the loudspeaker as I stage. LOL.. You guys are asses! (But MAN, was it funny!)

Andy pulls in behind me, and starts counting cars. After realizing HE'D be racing me next, he chickens out and convinces the guy behind HIM to swap places. I look at my new opponent's dial in time.. 10.85. Great. HOW am I supposed to judge how I'm doing when I leave almost 2 seconds before him? Oh well, let's get on with it. I stage, then practically fall asleep. I don't know WHAT I was thinking or, WHERE I was looking, but I didn't notice the other car had staged until I saw my first yellow light up! On the stutterbox quick, and launch hoping I didn't mess it up too hard... A bit of luck went my way, and the other car broke. Let up again a little before the traps, and get a 12.67. Around to the shack to get my slip.. there's that damned music again.. (shrug) maybe it's the slip shack guy's radio or something...

Back into the staging lanes for round 3. WTF?? Now I can hear that music in the staging lanes.. and it's REALLY coming from my car. Damn. I've been had. PPG stuck a siren that plays ice cream truck music under my hood, and rigged up a remote to it. As I'm staging, the track workers are howling!! However, it must have been my good luck charm because this time I was SERIOUSLY on my game.. Hit the launch with a .003 reaction time. Through the traps with a 12.603 (on a 12.60 dial in :-D). the guy in the other lane didn't stand a chance..

Wow. I made it to the finals!??! Time for another Ice Cream Parade into the staging lights. What?!?! It's broken? Crap. No more music. Get to the lights, and roll a little further than I want. "I've staged too deep, I'll have to leave a little later." I thought. Well, it apparently messed up my focus totally. I red-lighted HARD! I see the light come on, and give a 3/4 effort to a 13.1..

I'll take the runner-up trophy just fine, though, thank you!

Back to the Plantation for a lot more beer, and a lot more trash talking.

Get up this morning, and back to Sterk's for breakfast again. Bacon Gravy seems to taste WAY better BEFORE 3 nights of drinking. Eat half my breakfast, swing over to Buschur's shop to thank him, and off we go.

Did I mention I drive a DSM? Leaving one of the toll booths I glance at my water temp gauge. It's almost in the red. Crap. I turn the heat on, and it starts to drop. For the next 150 kms or so, I'm playing with the heat and watching the gauge. With the heat on, it seems to be OK while I'm moving. wow. That's going to make for an uncomfortable ride home... We pull over to investigate further and the blade has come off the motor blocking a good chunk of the rad in the process. We're almost at the border... if it starts to overheat because we're stopped, I'll just shut it off.

Back on the road, and got home safe and sound.

Can't wait until next year!!

Steve "The Peckerhead of Racing" Kinnaird

Now, I'll have all kinds of time to talk about DSMs, because I won't be busy fixing mine!

I was watching the webcam and heard the announcers voice say it! I was too late bringing up the sound capture or else I would have got it! I just about spit my coke all over the screen when I heard that!

The canadians did very well this weekend. Marco won his class with a personal best of 8.72 at 162mph. That was nice to see.

We got it all on film but the videos are pretty big (20-70mb each) so I doubt i'll be posting them.

I had a great time like last year. I will be there next year in my car forsure. I didnt really see any club dsm members except for the people running their cars.

The peckerhead racing thing was awesome. Seeing shep and rao run was great aswell.

Marco's run was definitely impressive, as was Brent Rau's 7.00 at 198mph! This will definitely be an every year event for me in future!

Was I the only one camping at the track? Well to put it lightly, it was a blast. 7, 8 and 9 second cars flying down the track till 5:30am made it entertaining along with a small amount of beer (only 24 for the 3 of us. We ran out early).

Going for year #4 next year.

Sorry about that, I must've read one of your posts before I wrote that.

Adam's right though, it was Paul Petricca.

I was camping aswell! I couldnt believe how late they were running cars saturday night. But I think the 4 of us drank like 50+ beers so sleeping wasnt all so bad.

The worst part was the lady waking you up in the morning asking for money. That sucked.

Mr. Kinnard, did you also notice the sticker on your windsheild that read "Friend of Fast"? I watched PPG (and gave slight moral support) in doing that.

I am horrible with names-to-faces, however I know who I met, and it was, once again, a pleasure. I have pics I will post later on, however for those who couldn't make it, start saving for it now, because next year's shootout is only 360 days away!!!

"Mr."?!?! Did I really look THAT old last weekend?? wink

Oh yeah, I saw it shortly after he put it on. It's still there.

Now, I'll have all kinds of time to talk about DSMs, because I won't be busy fixing mine!

Ya the Camping at the track was good but hard to sleep due to the cars going so late in the night.

We walked around later at night and didn't see a lot of DSMer's there, to bad we missed you Tim.

That was my 3 third shoot out and probably the best for a turn out. Good to see more Canadian's down there racing.

At first i didn`t believe them when i was told it goes until 5am that night, aparrently they dont mess around at norwalk lol.

Great weekend over all with no sleep (camped at the track with timbo and jimbo).

Im glad i wasn`t the one driving home after all that. Surpisingly Tim didn`t fall asleep at the wheel this time on the way back.

This is what happened at last years shootout between Windsor and London.

This is why God created cruise control and a passanger.

Don't mind the low oil pressure. The sensor wire fell off. I rigged up something at home and it hasn't come off since.
