I don't have the exact same problem, but my car's check engine light recently came on. However a short time after, it went off, came on, than today it went off again. I think it's b/c of my test pipe, but shouldn't the check engine light constantly be on?

Ummmmm I work in Mississauga. You could also use a voltmeter to read the code. Later... ------------------ Mike J-Quadcylla-92 Laser RS-T, FWD Vortex Racing http://www3.sympatico.ca/robin.jackson2/HomePage.htm

The O2 sensor will turn the CE light on then go off but the code is logged. I had the EXACT symptom and it was the O2 sensor. Remember the ECU does not use the O2 sensor under WOT, it uses maps. So, when you are under partial throttle the ecu tries to use the O2 sensor to adjust the A/F but gets wrong readings. That is why the car bucks. When you go WOT the ECU turns to fuel maps and the car resumes power as normal. ------------------ '91 Laser RS Turbo-"Sound Advice" guy. www.geocities.com/motorcity/speedway/5051 Turbo + Intercooler = The replacement for Displacement

If it is the O2 sensor then get it form Tallahasi Mitsu as they are about $65 U.S, in Canada an aftermarket sensor is $165 and factory is over $200... ------------------ '91 Laser RS Turbo-"Sound Advice" guy. www.geocities.com/motorcity/speedway/5051 Turbo + Intercooler = The replacement for Displacement

$235 wass what I was quoted... before tax! I got mine from Concielli... about $100 shipped.... no taxes. You'll need a special socket to replace it but other then that it's a breeze. ------------------ Mike J-Quadcylla-92 Laser RS-T, FWD Vortex Racing http://www3.sympatico.ca/robin.jackson2/HomePage.htm

Hey Nick
Since I had my test pipe installed my CE light has stayed on permanently. On and off doesn't sound like what it should be doing, unless I'm mistaken.

Yeah, my is a 2g. When i first stuck my test pipe on, the light never came on. After a few months it did. I reseted it and it went away. It came back 2 weeks later, went off, than on, than off again. For now it's been off. When i up to a 3 inch system, i'm going to put my cat back on.

I had a similar problem, with the engine running really really rough, (almost like 3 cyl.) and it was as simple as a my #4 wire ... it wasn't firing straight to the plug but off to the side.... this must have shut down the entire cylinder.... and my car ran like sh!t... i changed the plugs and the wirez and BOOM back to the GOOD OL' DSM
