I just got done the transmission conversion on my '91. I've started a website with the info but I haven't added the wiring mods to the inhibitor switch to allow the car to start or uploaded the pictures yet. It will give you a good idea of whats involved although you will have to do a bit of research since mine was done on a 1G DSM.

and to answer your other 2 ?'s. The turbo is smaller but doesn't affect the conversion and on the 1G there is no computer change, you can yank the whole auto tranny computer (which is seperate from the main computer) right out of the car.

$50 for pedals, shifter and cables from parts car
$250 for transmission
$50 in misc. parts
$200 Clutch and flywheel

$600 if you can do the work yourself and find good used parts. I couldn't touch an auto transmission for that price in any condition so I thought I might as well go this way instead.

Hey you want to come over to my house and do it? Vineet told me about your feat...

Seriously though my transmission (automatic) broke and I can't find a good auto tranny anywhere.

hmmm, maybe I should contract myself out to people who want to do the conversion.....

you may want to check part codes for the 95 precidia, it seems to have the same manual tranny so I ass-u-me the auto would be the same.....

Are you in Toronto? There's a wreckers just North of Newmarket that has an auto tranny in a DSM. Not sure if the tranny is good though. It's 400 Auto Wreckers in Bradford. Worth a call.

Well sh!t. If I would learn to read I'd see you're in Illinois. Forget it. That's about as crazy as me driving to Chicago to get the stuff I needed for the conversion from Vineet. Jeez. I have to tell you though, the temp in Chicago was so much nicer for taking the things out of Vineets car then putting them back in here in Toronto!!!

Hehee.... Yeah I know Vineet.. I am part of the Chicago Club DSM.

This sucks, because I can't find one locally for a good price with low miles.. Some places want 1000 American for a tranny with 70K on it.....
