Rewired my FP this weekend and got to thinking... I'm using the original power wire to trip the relay and then ground it. Would it make sense to put a resistor after the relay before the ground, a resistor say equal to the load the pump would take or more or less???? I only know enough about electronics to be dangerous. ------------------ Corey Kaye 1998 Eagle Talon TSi

Sense no one replied i've got another question (and they'll keep coming until someone replies !!!). Why are people only re-wiring the positive and not the negative? This doesn't make sense, you have to run the wire from the battery back anyway, why not make it two? Also, if the ground is weak it'll also keep the full 12-14v from coming back... Surely i'm not the first to think of this.... ------------------ Corey Kaye 1998 Eagle Talon TSi

Errrr, the whole body of the car is negative. If you pop the hood and look at the battery, you'll notice that the negative terminal is connected to the body. I'd say that the body of the car is a pretty big wire! That's why you only need to use 1 wire when you connect something. Just run a wire to the body and you have your negative. I did use a piece of 10 gauge between the relay and the car body.

I'll have to take a close look... I know there are like 4 or so wires around the FP. One of those skinny bastards is the + which we all agree is to small to do the job so we re-wire it. Well, one of the remaining three is the ground, it's just as skinny. I'm not sure where it grounds to the car but it doesn't to it right away. I could check my electrical book unless someone knows...

I'm not saying that the stock ground is connected to the body. I'm just saying that when I rewired the pump, I used a 10 gauge wire for postive and a 10 gauge 1 foot long wire for ground, on the car's body...
I logged my O2 before and after the rewire and I did see a difference.
YMMV!
