Just bought a used ISC motor for my 91 Tsi. The one I bought however does not have the plastic plunger thing that the one on my car does, it just has a metal rod coming out of it. Does anyone know how I can remove the plunger from the ISC I am using now and put it on my "new" one? Did not see anyway to remove it.
thanks

I don't recall seing any way to get that out (allthough there may be one or two) but what about using your old metal housing with the new electric guts?

Oddly enough, the replacement one I bought is a different style. It is a all metal housing, no plastic at all, and it is sealed shut. It fits in the right location but without the plunger it does not work. No screws or anyway to open it. I may see if I can send it back.

I've never seen one like that. The new one I got has a plastic housing and the cover(to make it more recyclable [Linked Image]). Where did you get it from? Mail order? Then send it back don't mess with it. Those people make enough money as it is to make mistakes.
Good luck.
