I have a 93 TSi, the problem is at higher RPM (5.5 and up) the car seems to just stop accelerating some times. This only happens under WOT while accelerating, if I accelerate at about half throttle into this RPM range it won't happen usually. Same thing if I put it into neutral, rev it to red line no problem. During normal driving it feels abit off too, kind of like turbo lag, go, lag, goes fine. So far I have the aircan/K&N set-up and NGK wire with new plugs, makes the car run nicer but still dosent fix problem. I contacted Magnus Motorsports but all they could suggest without seeing the car was boost leak. So any ideas, part #'s for gaskets that usually need replacing. Plus any other info that would help will be much appreciated.

This will happen for alot of different reasons.
1. Timing is being pulled 2. Your 14B cannot hold boost at this level 3. Spark plugs or wires need to be changed 4. MAF overrun(ECU closes the BCS reducing boost)
and there are probably lots more...
If you hack your intake, you can hold more power deeper in the RPM band.
Good luck!
P.S. a turbo back exhaust will do nothing but help your situation.

One other thing to consider,if the engine is still creeping up the rev range but the power is backing off,, your clutch is slipping under torque load.

Thanks for the replies. I don't think it is the clutch, revs don't climb independently from speed. As for new plugs and wires I put new ones in and this seemed to help but not eliminate the problem so again I don't think that's the source. Now as for the timing and MAF over-run I am not sure about those things, I haven't touched the timing and my mods are minimal so I don't see the ECU reacting that much. The boost is also stock so I wouldn't think that the turbo is running out of breath, should be able to pump 15psi easy. I am going to try the combustion chamber cleaner method and see what happens. What does a boost leak feel like when driving, common areas for a leak, solutions? Thanks for any info.

On hot days, I have similar symptoms... I'm sure the ECU is pulling the timing. Hot air, high revs, 14PSI, pump gas, small side mount intercooler (hense the small i in TSi ), stock fuel pump.... Knock. James 1996 TSi AWD
