I brought in my car to the dealer to fix the upper ball joint recall..what do they do, they replace the piece, but smash the whole front of my car. Those F**Ken BASTARDS!
Supposedly those incompetent bastards pressed on the automatic starter button while the keys were in the ignition, the hand brake wasn't on, and the car was in gear. It's a good thing I told them to only press number 1 to disable the alarm. (Those illiterates F**Ks)

The car is still a virgin! 98 TSI AWD with 28000KM on it.

next time you'll disable the remote starter before taking your car to a dealer.

Unfortunate accident. I hope they fix it.

It's a 700$ car/automatic car starter system.

Supposedly it has a safety feature...I guess not.

Anyways, their insurance is going to pay for it. But you know how it is...it's never going to be the same. Different shades of black, etc..

Don't sweat the pain... A good place can match it no problem. I repainted my front end in January, I even got the factory orange peel [Linked Image]

The ne paint doesn't seem as durable... full of stone chips already, but that could be me.

Black is the easiest colour to match. Don't worry. If your car was red, you may have run in to problems (orange-ish paint, or fading to appear orange later in life).

Get them to add the flex additive to the paint. That way, the paint is flexible, and won't chip or produce those pressure cracks when the plastic bends.

Anthony,

I have a similar set up on my car, and I have stickers beside the shifter indicating "Do not park car with shifter in any gear." I still don't trust anyone else to do this. I make sure I disable the system even when I work on the car. I'm glad no one got hurt. I'm surprised the dealer isn't coming after you for damages to their property and putting the mechanics lives in danger. I would hate to be working on a car that could easily be started and drive away at the press of a button. I've had a vehicle with a remote starter run away on me in a garage and it nearly killed me. Luckily, I got out from underneath it before I push the button to start it (it was an automatic, and the shifter linkage was twisted, so it was in gear even though the shifter said otherwise). The vehicle rolled forward off the jack stands and slammed onto the ground (I would have been hamburger meat) and squeezed me against a wall. Luckily the wall was jammed with sh!t and junk and I ended up in a recess, so I wasn't really hurt. Lesson learned: take every precaution possible to make sure things are safe. Glad they're fixing it for you though.

Worst part is, you'll NEVER get a paint job as good as the one that it came with from the factory...

The factory paint job is usually the best, but you can spend mega-big $$$ and get a show quality job which is better than the factory job.

man that's crazy, these alarms are not designed properly... press a button and the car starts... my old alarm, you had to pess the button for 3 seconds, it would chirp, and then you have to press the button again for 3 seconds for it to start...
my new alarm.. press it, boom.. [Linked Image]
