I'm going to disagree with this being "normal". I'm new to dsm's (about a year now) but I've driven turbo cars for about 10 years. Generally speaking, that is a symptom of a plugged up catalytic converter. The turbo can't get rid of the exhaust as quickly as it normally would and it leads to overheating the turbo. Eventually it will lead to premature turbo failure.
