As much as that makes sense for a CAI, it doesn't make much sense for a SRI does it? The engine bay air will still heat up, even if the pipe doesn't. That's the air the filter will be sucking in regardless.
Every little bit helps. The air moving under the hood won't be as hot as the heat soaked pipe you are running it through. Get the air from a cold place and put it through a wrapped pipe. Or make it blung. Up to you
