Nope, as you'll really only need heel-toe under harder braking (if you're doing light braking then chances are you aren't planning on downshifting) and therefore that 'gap' will be mostly gone, not that would matter anyways. Just angle your foot more. I've never never had issues with heel-toe caused by the 'fore/aft' gap, just the spacing between the pedals side-to-side.
