Depends on the material your using on the weld process. MIG welded DOM cage is perfectly fine and isn't in any way inferior to a TIG.

Since you'll be fitting the cage I suggest DOM tubing and MIG welding so if your joints aren't 100% the weld can still fill in the minor gaps.

TIG and chromoly go together though.
