The reason for the shim is I had this exact same transmission before, with the exact same brand new components and it needed a shim. The only difference was my clutch and PP between the cars. When I needed the shim I was on an ACT Streetlite flywheel with a 2600 now it's a Fidanza flywheel with a Centerforce clutch.

I ended up taking it down and removing the shim. This is what is looks like now:

It may not look like much of a difference but if I apply even a little pressure with my finger against the fork it moves toward the centre a little more.. And now there is a LOT more room between it's neutral position and it hitting something when being pushed towards the driver side.

I think this time around it's good.
