Don't stress about gauntlets those ones are fine. I don't usually wear a glove on my trigger hand, or if I do it's just basic mechanix gloves.
Once you ditch flux for gas the gloves don't need to do as much as you will have far less splatter.
And agreed on the sweater, I didn't buy a welding jacket until I started welding lying down.
And no sandals and always wear socks!! Don't ask me how I know.
