Anthony,

I have a similar set up on my car, and I have stickers beside the shifter indicating "Do not park car with shifter in any gear." I still don't trust anyone else to do this. I make sure I disable the system even when I work on the car. I'm glad no one got hurt. I'm surprised the dealer isn't coming after you for damages to their property and putting the mechanics lives in danger. I would hate to be working on a car that could easily be started and drive away at the press of a button. I've had a vehicle with a remote starter run away on me in a garage and it nearly killed me. Luckily, I got out from underneath it before I push the button to start it (it was an automatic, and the shifter linkage was twisted, so it was in gear even though the shifter said otherwise). The vehicle rolled forward off the jack stands and slammed onto the ground (I would have been hamburger meat) and squeezed me against a wall. Luckily the wall was jammed with sh!t and junk and I ended up in a recess, so I wasn't really hurt. Lesson learned: take every precaution possible to make sure things are safe. Glad they're fixing it for you though.
